Due to recent trades I have had, I thought I could add a few pointers to New Members as it has come to the point I will NOT Trade with anyone with Zero Feedback and now reluntant to do any trades with anyone I haven't done one before.
Number 1 and Utmost of importantance is COMMUNICATION, Relay what issues you are having in each step on the transaction. Most members on here understand, Card Trading is a Hobby shouldn't be work and if it takes you a few day to find, ship it's no big deal. If you accept a Trade at least let them know a Timeline of when you will be able to do any of this. Don't agree to ship out next day and then 2 weeks later still haven't done this.
Number 2, This site works best with each Member doing the right thing, The site offers excellent tool in doing this. Change the Status when each step is done so both of you are keeping track of thing as a few of us operate on Multiple sites to enhance our collections. Sometimes there are glitches as Card you see in Wantlist has already been in another trade which goes back to #1 But if you use the tools such as recieved/ sent they do help in moving cards in and out of collections.
Number 3. be courteous if your Trade is not accepted, Either we don't have the Cards anymore, can't locate, In my Case PTSD mood , too busy with Work or just plain Trade that is absurd. Some may argue all cards are equal. Don't send message back being ignorant, currently no way to block members but I do have a Blacklist of who I wouldn't trade with and pretty sure others do the same. Remember there might be a change of heart and other Trades could prove more Valuable.
So hopefully this makes at least 1 better trader on site as overall there is some awesome members and site depends on trust of everyone doing their part.

Some of the worst people on here are the long-timers.

I saw the best cards of my generation destroyed by creases, soft cornered hysterical edge wear, dragging themselves through the hobby shops at dawn looking for a top loader...

I'll say this much. I just did 2 trades with members with zero feedback; it was their first trades on here. The first one was perfect and the other is trending the same way (enevelop may be in the mail as I type this). I asked for no special concessions (they send first, etc.) and has been great. In fact, have been a part of a few 1st trades and NEVER had an issue. I think what was typed here was better served to type, read and then edit before posting rather than stream of thought. There are good thoughts here (i.e communication), but if I was a new member I'd probably be turned off. Yes, there are some bad traders on here, but to blanket "bad trader" on all new members is kid of off-putting to me.

This is also meant for long timer as well. You do have some New Members not falling into this Cat. but I have 3 out of 7 which have gone south. This is meant more for a rules of engagement of how not to get on someones S***list

A man has to have goals — for a day, for a lifetime — and that was mine, to have people say, "There goes Ted Williams, the greatest hitter who ever lived."

I agree with so much of this, but its certainly not just the newbies! Two of my transactions this week were in these categories. First trader had over 50 feedback and he did ship quickly. The cards arrived with part of one side of envelope torn open . The trader had sent 8 cards in a team bag with a 55 cent stamp. No soft sleeves, toploaders, or cardboard for protection. Didn't pay for non-machinable or write anything on the envelope, so it went through the postal machine, tearing the envelope and damaging 3 of the cards. Second trade accepted on Tuesday 26th. Five days later, on the 31st he said he couldn't find one of the cards. I said okay replace with similar card. Never marked package sent, so on 6/4, nine days later, I asked if he had sent. He answered and said it would go out soon. I sent mine on 5/27, so he received mine before he finally sent mine on 6/6-11 days after accepting the trade.
Im with you Detfan6897, Communication is very important in the whole process. I recently went through a no-communication transaction that looked like several members were going to lose cards and it was all triggered by no communication. Luckily that trade worked out, but Im now asking after 3 or 4 days, if they dont mark it sent. I'm also with you on the "blacklist". I have several that are on the "never again" list, I have a "3 and out" list for folks that never say why, but have declined 3 proposals. I dont mind counters, but after 3 attempts with no reason, I move on. I find myself trading with all the members that trade like I do. Nice cards, well packaged, and shipped in a timely matter.
