Hey all,
I am getting my trading numbers up there and have met some great people. I have doubled my trades in the last month alone and am getting more and more offers. My concern is this, I have proposed numerous trades to people that are highly active on this site with trading and have received no response from them. I have done follow up emails, checked their profile carefully to see if they are on temporary hiatus, do not trade with newbies, or see when they last checked in (which they consistantly do). Unfortunately I have a handful of site memebers that just ignore me all togeher. I have sent follow up messages and still no reply? Is this common for certain members? All of the people that I have traded with so far have been pleased, but that does not seem to be enough? Just wondering why this could be some people's response as I have found some really great collector on this site.

One possibility might be they were offended by the offer. Instead of responding and having you possibly take offense, they just ignore it.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Sometimes I will look at an offer, and not be sure what I want to do with it, so, I will leave it for a couple days, then come back and look at it again and see if I feel differently. Rather than just give a quick yes or no.

Interesting theory. In my opinion, I usually error on the side of the other person getting the better end of the deal though. I would say that for some card collectors who are not as well versed on the hobby (like myself) the intent is not on purpose, rather the proposal was done with integrity and a lack of complete knowledge. I understand that people do not want commons for hall of fame players, signature cards, and short prints in a one for one trade, but if traders do not communicate what they view as unfair on the trade proposal, those of us who are still learning will never be able to adjust and get better. I never take offense to no if I understand why. I just try harder to get where I need to be. Thanks for the feedback C2Cigars.

That's one possibility. Another might be the size of the trade offer. Some collectors either want small trades they can PWE and avoid a post office trip and others only want larger trades they feel is worth their time pulling and packing. Could be a number of things really. I guess an electronic trade request is kinda like a phone call or random text, sometimes you're just not in the mood for interaction lol. I would tend to agree though that it is far too common here to have an offer ignored. I've had better luck lately myself though so things are hopefully looking up!

My thoughts EXACTLY. Sometimes it takes a couple days to figure "yes" or "no"....However, I never ignore a follow up message if 1 is sent, I always respond to them. I have found communication is the key to being siccessful on this site.

Hello All,
When I receive a trade offer I try to get back quickly. This not always happens, but it is my intension. There are a lot of factors that can delay this. The biggest one is if I have said card/cards already in a proposel. Then I have to figure whats the better trade for me and will the other person EVER respond to my trade. This can delay the process. If the person messages me, I will always respond. Usually that same day. If I receive a rediculous offer I will just flat out decline it. Example Pete Alonso auto limited to 25 for 3 1984 Fleer commons...really. I honestly hope this person is a child that doesn't understand the card value. If its a offer that is fairly close I usually look to see if I can counter and than I take it from there.
From what I have seen on this site there are enough traders to keep me busy, just sometimes you may not be able to get the card you want. Thats when a local card dealer or Ebay, COMC comes in handy.
Trade On!

One of my biggest frustrations here. I make an offer and then watch someone sign on every day for a month without responding. I follow up with e-mails and still nothing. I understand a few days or even a week but come on. If you're offended by the trade then get a life. Just hit decline and move on. Just my 2 cents.

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.

Not sure if anyone else knows but you can reply directly to the sender from the message you receive that you have a Transaction offer. I have used this method when needing a bit of time to consider the offer or pulling several cards before accepting the offer. In this way, the other member knows that I am not ignoring the offer but just can't readily act on it. It is one limitation in the transaction manager that one cannot send a message unless one Accepts, Counters or Declines the offer. I have often wished I could send a message before actioning one of the three options.

I have suggested this to Admin a long time ago; to be able to send a message separate from any action (Accept, Counter, Decline). Since it was never changed I too just reply to the Transaction Proposal message.
