Just a heads up that I ran across a bunch of matches today, and as I looked for a possible trade I noticed a low feedback rating. So please update if he's come through with any of those trades he stiffed you with previously.

Looks more like someone who built up a good feedback then used it to scam several traders in a short time span before negative feedback started being posted.

In the last two weeks, have seen three instances of negative feedback being posted on members who before then were seen as reliable traders.  Are things changing?

This is the problem.  As one of the negative feedbacks said, when he first accepted the trade from this member, the feedback was 100% positive. Then this member went on a run of 7 trades where he did not fulfill his end of the trade and never responded to any messages from the trade partners.  I know we all have things going on in our lives but, if so, then clear up the trades that are ongoing and don't propose or accept any trades till things improve.  I am in that situation right now.  This member has regularly logged onto this site during the past five months so I can only assume he did this intentionally.

I continue to have members who don't show the decency to respond to proposed trades even after being told through a PM that they are interested (to the point that I quit proposing any) or respond to PM asking if they would be intersted in trading (these are active members who are logged on almost every day).  I am often tempted to leave Negative Feedback for their lack of email etiquette.

When I saw this post, it made me start wondering if there would not be a way to alert other members of a possible trader who is going rogue. More often than not, by the time the a Negative Feedback is submitted, the offender has had the opportunity to entice a few more trades.  We all hesitate to leave negative feedback, some for months after the fact.

I am thinking along the lines that, when a member fails to communicate in a timely manner (let's say 5-7 days covering a weekend and that the member who is not responding has logged on since the last attempted communication), then either through a Neutral or Negative Feedback, or an "Alert" button in the Transation Manager page of the problem trade (I prefer this idea), an alert would be created in possibly a location on this site or maybe better still, on the offender's profile page near his Feedback rating, just for that purpose. This would allow other members to note those who are potentially fraudulent.  If an identified member cleaned up the problem, the alert on him would be removed.

This idea would have to be developed; I have just started trying to imagine what would work best.  I can say that if someone leaves Neutral Feedback, the receiving member's feedback % does not change.  So if a member is less than timely in fulfilling his end of the trade, he may remain unnoticed if all other feedback is 100%.  After all, most of us probably see something like "100% Positive 35 Comments" for a member and think all is good yet he may have several Neutrals expressing difficulty in completing the trade.

Just an idea to try to protect on of the great things about this site.

   I agree that there is not too much more frustrating then silence when you either email before or simply straight out propose an offer. As one who really enjoys the trading aspect I would think that even a yes or no, it doesn't have to expand into a verbose statement on their behalf especially as you mention that these are often the members who actually do log in pretty much every day. I suppose I am patient to a fault but even after waiting for more than three weeks recently to hear back on a trade offer I finally chose to move on. As you said everyone (hopefully!) has more to do than be here 24/7 however it's not really asking a lot to be a little considerate. Anyways enough for now and hope you're at least able to get around a bit.

This is another reason why I am a big fan of small PWE trades. I can stick up to 18 cards in a 9 pocket sheet for $.70 or $.80 and there usually isn't a lot at risk in a single trade. Unfortunately we live in a world where someone can make several small trades to build a perfect trade record and then take advantage of others for a short period of time. I have had only positive results on the site and think this is a great site.

He stiffed me back in July. I too noticed a bunch of matches with him today. Today is the first time he's been on since August 31. Hopefully newer members take notice of this thread and proceed with caution.

If somebody just disappears, never to be heard from again, I tend to assume something happened to them. If somebody is on a lot and just ignores, then I assume they are just a lowlife.

I'm not the kind of person that assumes the worst about people, perhaps I'm being nieve. 

A few years back a friend of mine who sells on eBay was getting annoyed with a buyer who didn't pay. He somehow got their phone number and gave him a call...only to find out that he (the buyer)  had died from a sudden heart attack. I believe that was the case and not just an excuse because his wife offered to pay and let my friend keep the item, but he declined her payment offer. So you never know.

So, slightly unrelated but something of note regardless.

I thought this trader had come up before, and that there may have been discussion of an alias. However, when I went to search the forums for "NorCalCards707" it returned 0 results. I don't mean no results relevant to my search; I mean 0 results whatsoever - including this forum thread, with this title. I wondered briefly if perhaps you cannot search for usernames, but a few tries netted me plenty of results for several members.

Any idea why this may be?

Jason, did you see any search results that had threads that started today? Maybe tomorrow you'll find it. I'm just making guesses here.
