I know I'm a relative newbie compared to many of you that have made this site incredible, but I hope I can get some support. I've been working to add my collection into the database recently, and I've come across numerous cards that featured only one scan (usually the back). TI'm assuming that the original poster has the base card and uses that back image for all of the parallels. This is problematic - tonight I came across an image that was used incorrectly for an action variation in a Heritage set (the base card back image was used). The base and the variation have different codes on the back, which means the back images are different. I know this isn't the only image that has this problem.
Does anyone else find this frustrating? I know that everyone is trying to accumulate points, but it seems that you shouldn't post the image of a card unless it is actually that card and you have it in-hand. Would it be possible to require both images to be uploaded together? I think this would cut down on these bad-faith image uploads.
I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers, I'm only trying to make image uploads more accurate.

My Cardboard Habit PC'ing Matt Harrison, Rusty Greer & anything Texas Rangers PLEASE NOTE: I am currently reorganizing my collection at the moment, so I will not be trading until I have everything in the system. Thanks for understanding!

I find this infuriating, not just frustrating. Please report each card you find like that - those images need to be removed so we can get the correct ones up. Sorry that it will take you time to do that, but it takes us longer to do the back end stuff to get it removed). Thanks!

I've reported some incorrect images attached to cards. Just use the report feature and it gets fixed fast! Props to the admins of this database, you guys kick ass!

I argued this very point a couple of years ago as I was frustrated (and infuriated) by the practice of some to upload images exactly as you said, many of them being in error which back then had to be fixed by Admin (permissions were since expanded to L8). It is at that time people started coining the phrase "point farmers". I stopped "complaining" because some will never change their ways at the detrement of others. But I also stopped uploading images because of this unethical practice and won't upload any more unless this practice is abolished. Let the point farmers have their points.

Well said Bruno, as I have always stated, I only upload scans of cards I have in hand.

Get rid of the point system and replace it with an accuracy rating. If your image is removed because it's wrong or violates image quality standards, you're dinged significantly.

I have previously suggested topping the point accumulation at 25,000 so that the requirements for permission levels can still be attained. After a member attains that peak of 25,000, points would no longer be accumulated. Another option would be to maximize the points a member could gain for any one contribution, e.g. image upload - 10,000, IR resolution - 10,000, checklist submissions - 5,000, etc. This would still encourage members to contribute but would discourage the point farmers.
In the end the decision was to let the point farmers have their way. So be it. Fortunately there are many real dedicated members who work on the more dificult areas of the site to keep the site moving in the right direction.

Maybe more points should go to the members that fix the scans. If members can't get the scanning right at least some members can fix them correctly, me being one. I can live in the "recropping" area and still make minimal progress. The amount of points is minimal for repairing a scan compared to other point getters. My fingers hurt by the time I end a "recropping session". How about it? What do you think? Help me move past my present level, give me an "atta boy" and some more points. Anybody listening?

I agree Bob. More points should be awarded to those who fix other member's errors or work on the tedious work such as cropping images or entering notes in the Note fields. Realistically, I think we all know who contributes the most to this site yet he is not even in the top 30 in points. There are other members who also work hard behind the scenes correcting errors yet they aren't on the leader board in points.
All the more reason to revamp how points are awarded so as to put the right people on top.

Scanning/cropping/uploading cards that one has in their hands is more time consuming than cropping an image that has already been uploaded. If anything the image credit should go to the cropper (Makes it sound like a points farmer) rather than the one who sloppily uploaded it. If there was a way to differentiate between an image created by the submitter and one that has been pirated from elsewhere that would be a great place to vary points awarded.
I like the idea of penalizing sloppy/bad images. 1 point awarded for getting it right, minus 10 for doing it poorly.
Bob, with all the cards you have, you could get to 1,000 points the same way I did. Scan, rescan, rescan (sometimes it takes many tries to get images straight, not cut off, etc.) crop, clarity/color adjustments, save, work through the CL's, upload, then do it again for the back.
