All right, I see this everywhere: People have their profile pictures in varying card frames with references to the TCDB. Is this a merit system? In other words, can you earn the border and "TRADER" caption by winning the end of season rewards, or is it just a feature any noob like me can go find (where?) and create one of my own? It's the more active guys, probably award winners I see all the time, but they make themselves visible by posting on forums, so it stands to reason why I see it so often.

So everyone just custom keys in "tradingcarddb.com" and "trader" and their screenname, loads a photo and the website exports it.... for free, by chance?

I created mine from Topps. To get an actual card, you do have to pay. To save the image, however...you do not. That's what I did.
Regarding many of the members here, C2Cigars puts out a set every year (well, for the last two years) featuring members of the site: 2017 and 2018. What his process is or how he does it, I cannot say for sure.
The Topps website feature is fun to play around with, utilizing many different designs and unique features. I would encourage you to explore it. Whenever I get married (one of these days, I hope) I plan on buying "packs" of custom made Topps cards for my groomsman, as we all played college baseball together. But that's later on down the road!
-------------------------------
I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Thanks everyone for pointing me in the right direction. I would still like to hear from Cigars if he wishes, but I think I found the link:
https://www.topps.com/cardbuilder
I honestly don't know if I will make a TCDB profile picture from it, but I appreciate all the tips.

The "new & improved" Topps website's Custom Card is now much more user unfriendly. There's no more option for a custom team name, i.e., TRADINGCARDDB.COM. And they removed a lot of card frame choices.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I did not get a lot of time with it, but I did not see a free download option either. It's $9.99 for 20 copies of the same card. I'm unclear if that would include a digital copy as I did not purchase.

Once you have the front designed, right-click on the image and Save image as...

I really liked the look of the 1973 design that many of you are using and was hoping to be able to find the horizontal '73 design on there. It's not very user-friendly, but it doesn't look like that's an option. Oh well.
