I was inputting cards for Kevin Porter and it showed both players but different sports. One in Hockey and the other in Basketball. Is there a was to split these up if I am doing a search? Maybe something in the coding?

I have seen it before while inputting my cards but could not remember the other players name.

I've wondered this too. I know of at least 3 'Steve Smith' athletes, 2 in NFL and one in NBA. The Beckett database adds a college distinction for the Smith WR that was drafted by the NY Giants (USC), but it isn't listed like that here. The other Smith of Panthers fame and from University of Utah has no distinction here or on Beckett. I also remember that there were 2 players named Mark Carrier in the NFL back in the late 80's to mid 90's. One was a DB and the other was a WR.

There SHOULD be a variation in the names here for players with the same name (no matter what sport they played) that really identifies the specific player you are looking for!

They are separated by the PIDs here. I don't have the time to go in and correct them myself-it's somewhat time consuming to fix and right now my priority is getting my full tradelist posted- but it's not a particularly hard fix.

 I checked and the PID is the same for both since they show up together. I would assume you would have to change one of the players PID? Luckly there are less than 100 cards for both.

 I want to bring this back up to get some clarification.  Once separate PIDs have been created for people with the same names, when importing a new checklist, how should the name be entered into the XLS file in order for it to automatically connect to the correct PID?  

I just split a couple of players (two Dick Egans and two Roy Thomases), but if I import a new checklist, I can't just put "Roy Thomas" or "Dick Egan" and expect it to link properly.  It always seems to default to the earliest of the two PIDs.  What goes in the Name field in that instance?

I'm curious about that as well. I recently added some football checklists that had the DB Mark Carrier. Knowing that there were two players named Mark Carrier I checked after posting the checklist to make sure the cards were attached to the right player. But if I didn't know about there being two of them at least one of the links would have been wrong.
