For all intents and purposes, I finished getting my NBA collection onto the Database tonight. It took me more than 5 years. I still have several pages of cards needing scans on my report, but there are some that got too damaged in a flood to scan, some I accidentally put into the boxes of cards already done on here, and some I had scanned but lost the scan when my remote hard drive died in 2016. I'll find the latter two groups eventually.
It's been a lot of fun, and a lot of work, but now I'm caught up. I'm not actually happy about it...I enjoy the data input aspect. I still have lots of scanning to do- the cards I've been setting aside because they were already on here, I'm still going to scan for my own website. I have a lot of documenting of my collection in Excel in my immediate future, and I still have the NCAA cards waiting for me, which I can only find one box of right now.
It sure feels weird, though, to have concluded the project that has taken up almost every hour of every day for more than five full years.
I was hoping I would have enough to reach 250,000 points, but I ran out at 248,339. I'll get there eventually, because there will always be new additions to work on...and the peripheral stuff that needs some research before a checklist can be found.

Congratulations? I'm not sured you're as happy about it as I will be when I finish.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Congrats on getting your all of your NBA cards listed on here! I'm pretty sure that is what you are saying.
Nearly 100K basketball cards is truly a massive collection to me. My entire collection of every sport and non-sport card is barely half of that! I'm trying to wrap up adding my baseball cards (only have 2001-2008 traders and most of my keeps to go now). Then I'll get started on adding my basketball cards, but I only have about 5K of those. I'm betting there won't be many scans for me to add of those when I get to them.

Congrats Billy!! I will begin my collection of hockey cards in the new year, finished making computer files of all my checklists so that pile of tattered old paper is one click away now. Got a bunch of Ranfords and Oiler RC stuff sitting here to be scanned and enetered but for the most part I am pre-sorting before I begin the task. Again congrats and I knew after I did my 900 Ranfords I was exhausted so I can only imagine what 100,000 must of felt like. LOL

Congrats! I’m fairly close to getting all my cards in here. Still have half of the AL Central, and all of the AL West and NL East to put in, but I’m close.

Nice accomplishment Billy. I know it's tough, as I started getting only my Phillies stuff in and I'm only up to 1990 (binder 3 of 9). It's a bit easier now, but it's still time-consuming. And I have all my stuff in pages in order (close to TCDB's order).

Thanks guys... I will still be here every day. Can't get rid of me that easily! It does feel weird to know most of my day won't be spent uploading scans. Well, today might as I should get the one college box I could find done today. About 3/4ths of what needed scans were mirror foil, which is not much fun to do.
Now that I've finished scanning what needs to be done here, I plan to work on entering NASCAR teams next, then it's on to PID work for non-sports.
First though, will be working on some excel stuff for my own collection. I've been tracking my collection on Excel since 2000, but I'm making it more detailed and better than the simple list of total numbers that it began as. This is a project that won't be done until I finish scanning everything, and that's still not likely to be before 2021. I originally thought I would have been finished in 2016...I am the world's worst estimator. I actually only hit the halfway mark in 2016!
While I'm definitely feeling a let down from not having any more of the project to do, I still have lots of other card related projects to work on.
Plus, I never actually opened the last four trades that arrived, because I was putting my total focus on getting the scanning done. Now I have time for that!

Hey Billy, I just unboxed all of my cards that were scattered from a recent move. I put them all in 5,000 count boxes. I'm feeling very overwhelmed at the moment. Just estimating, I have 10 of the 5,000 count boxes full. That's 50,000 cards that are not sorted!
I guess the next step is sorting everything by year, then set. Then I can start putting in the data bass what I have. I am assuming that I should be finished around my retirement date in September of 2027 lol! Then.... I will go back and add scans to what is missing from the site. So I should start earning points around year 2028?!?!
