Anything 2005
(2005/2006 on split
year as in
basketball, hockey
etc.) and older
(except minor
leagues, college
etc.) Collect on a
small budget. Take
what I find. Just
to see what it will
become. A little
over 15,000 cards
for 4778 names,
sports names only.
Have cards from 900
different sets thus
far.

All Topps regular issue baseball cards. Subset: the last Topps card of every Hall of Famer who has a Topps card.
That's plenty.

Baseball: Cardinals, and non-Cardinals cards of players who were Cardinals at some point (Ozzie Smith's Padres cards, for example)
hall of famers
subsets like Topps trophy rookies, all stars, league leaders, Donruss rated rookies
Wrestling: any
Basketball: Indiana Pacers
Football: Jimmy Garoppolo and Erik Lora
oddball sets, oversized and undersized cards
nonsport: US Presidents
my ideal collection would contain a card from every set ever made, and a card of every player to appear on a card. I am not a set builder, but I am a set starter. I have 15,000 cards on the database, but only four complete sets. One of those only has four cards.
-------------------------------
I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
