Hi Fellow Card Hobbyist!
This is a first for me as far as logging on to a Card database and reading and posting forums. I Love "The Idea" of listing cards, trading, meeting collectors, building sets, players etc...
1. When trading, How do people go about Trading? How does the people go about the shipping and how long before they ship it, tracking etc... How long does a person have before its getting a little to long if one already shipped out and the other hasn't. I havent traded yet but want to and will sooo.
2. I'm not having the best of a experience on this site. Since im new and dont hve anything listed peopel are very rude and not welcoming to a new person. Reminds me of a bad card shop that doesn't welcome all but just the selected few and people who dish out money. Is this how it is? A alternative site, ZISTLE was givingto me buy a youtube buddy that helped me get started on there and already have trades offered to me, few hrs I got over 100 cards listed fast with 2 clicks and the card is listed no hassle or problems and you can see it clearly on a trade/want list. I hope this site is simlar I just dont know the ropes yet. WOuld love to hear some opinions and perspectives on this....
Anyone want to trade..... Loook me up on ZISTLE as.........ToppTradeKing

The problem is that
there aren't all
that many regular
members here to
trade with...and
most of the members
seem to have
everything already,
very few people
will trade for
something they
already have. For
instance I don't
have any of the
cards you've been
looking for because
I don't do
baseball. Ergo
nothing to trade.
I've been on
various card forums
since 2000...this
is by far my
favorite. I just
completed my first
trade this week but
I have been on the
receiving end of
Random Acts of
Kindness several
times.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I would love to start trading as well, but again, I don't collect baseball either. I have some that I have received by accident and plenty from my fathers collection. Those won't go anywhere! (My mother has forbid me from trading any of those cards. there are plenty of doubles too, but not in great condition. still, forbid,) Hockey is my main collection and I am working on my star wars cards from the 70's and 80's. I've got about 400 cards to add to my list but pretty much everything I have is listed if you're interested.
As for shipping and such, I would go by the standard set by my coin site, http://en.numista.com. Most members there tell others on their profile what their preferences are. For example, if you look me up there, my profile says that I don't do tracking because of the exorbitant cost Canada has decided to levy on the service. it's 10 bucks to send a light package to the UK and almost 70 to track it.
I have done plenty of intenational trades within that site and usually I give about 1 month for international trades before I make a hint to complaint. how my hint is dealt with determines what I say about the trade, (Don't trade with Italy! Nothing but issues! Sluggish, and dishonest postal services,)
With TCDB, I would suggest making an agreement with your trade partner. he tracks? You track. He doesn't wish to, You shouldn't have to. Depends how much is being shipped, what the believed value is, etc., etc. Selling would work like E-Bay. cost of product plus shipping. No complaints or no trade.

I've traded with 2 different members here and for my part, I haven't had any issues.
We negotiated and made sure that both sides knew exactly what to expect before agreeing. Cards were shipped in toploaders and padded envelopes to make sure they would arrive in good condition.
Due to past issues with the USPS, I only ship with tracking. So far I've only traded with people from inside the U.S.
The key is to trading is comunication and if you plan to trade expensive items, maybe make a "test trade" for some cheaper items with that person first so you can build some trust with each other.

I may have come across harsh in my message to you TTK but
you were pressuring me to skype for crying out loud. I,
like whoisrob, have made 2 trades & both have been
successful. I honestly would add your collection and start
there TTK, so people can assess what you may have that they
want. You can't just message someone and say I want these
players or these teams and expect me to say "sweet lets
skype"...I have no idea what you have & if I'd want
any...again though best of luck, sorry you're not finding
this site to be a positive experience...

Nothing against
TTK, but I checked
out that zistle
site and randomly
selected 1992 Leaf.
The prices posted
for the cards a
crazy prices. Some
of the common cards
that should be
listed around $0.05
was $1 to $5.

Not sure if I'll ever have someone wanting to trade with me, but I'd trust most of the people here for sure. It definitely is a smaller community, but I kinda like that. It's not overrun by kids and thieves.
I like the idea of being able to catalog my collection and have it displayed for anyone to see. Like SaveDaKid said, add your collection to the database and take it slowly. I'm not skyping with anyone either. One step at a time...

This old post made me laugh. Five years ago, there were almost no members who traded. How times have changed...for the better!
-------------------------------
I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

What prompted you to pull up this old post?
Just curious.

I find it funny that the original poster was a member for a total of 21 days, has 1 card listed, and started this thread 2 days before his last log-on.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
