Hi,
Are there any HOF collectors in here, for any sport?
How do you organize your HOF collection? Do you organize by year of induction? Do you choose the best most valuable card for each of your HOF players, or do you use some other criteria?

Hello, I primarily collect only HOF football, basketball and baseball. I only trade for or buy HOF player cards that are made during their playing years. I will keep a HOF players card for the PC that is post career if it comes in a pack or box that I open. I really don't want a Willie Mays card from 2022 but if it comes in a pack I open, I'll put it in the PC.
I organize by player last name and put them in the box by numerical order.
This is the system and criteria I have come up with that works for me.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), I have added several hundred new (to me) cards to these binders and I have had to re-organize them 3 times since I implemented this system. (They have made the binders too full, I started this with 9 binders and I am up to 13 binders.)
Alphabetical order by last name. When players are inducted, they go into the corresponding binder. (That also can cause changes.)
I only collect baseball HOFers.

I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned off (details are in my profile). I have (finally) unearthed my 2 very large boxes of Star Company minor league sets and they are available (email for details).

vrooomed,
That's a nice looking collection. How many cards do you include for each of the HOF players? Is there a limit per person, like do you dedicate one page (9 pockets) for each player?

Oh nevermind, I see in your collection that you don't have a max limit on each player.

I do baseball, football and basketball hall of famers. My baseball binders are organized by decades, 50's/60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. They are placed in alphabetical order within each binder. My football hall of famers are in 2 separate binders organized by offensive and defensive positions. My basketball hall of famers are in one binder organized alphabetically. I only include cards from when the players were active. Any others that make their way into my collection go into a 3500 box with any junk wax and newer hall of famers. I haven't got around to putting those in a binder yet.

In the right cabinet, I have all the HOF that were Rookies before 1970 by alphabetical order, all in top loaders. The left hand cabinet has HOF from 1971-1977 by Rookie year. I have 2 more cabinets like these to finish hopefully this winter. One will be to divide the older HOF into a 1960s rookies decade and one for 1960 or older. The other cabinet will continue from 1977 to whenever the cabinet has as many players it can hold leaving room for more cards.
Nolan Ryan and Pete Rose each have a standup antique corner cabinet that all their cards and memorabilia are kept on display. Then there is the Rose framed jersey / cards. The antique cabinets are on either side of the picture.

As expressed by others, I rather collect cards from their playing years but if I get cards in trades of their post-career years, I keep them.

Wow, nice cabinets!
Wait, you have all the HOF that were rookies before 1970? Like even the pre-war stuff, the original 1936 class inductees of Cobb, Johnson, Mathewson, Ruth and Wagner?
As far as Pete Rose, since he was never inducted to the HOF, do you just add him with the other HOFers as if he was inducted? Do you treat some other non-HOF players in the same way?

No I don't have the RC of the HOF before 1970. But I collect those players and their PC is together in the cabinet. Some of these players, I only have 1 card; others I may have 100+. As for Rose, his cards are in the left-hand antique cabinet by the framed jersey and Ryan's are all in the right-hand cabinet.
The other player I treat similar to the other HOF is Thurman Munson; his cards are in with the other HOF. Before he was inducted, Gil Hodges was also this way. There are four others in the cabinet not in the HOF but I PC because of their days as managers - Don Zimmer, Cito Gaston, Jim Leyland, and Tom Kelly.

I have a Baseball HOF bin on my collection, and I sort in alphabetical order by last name.
