Looks like they may finally have priced out all the veterans whom have collected the UD flagship sets since 90-91 (we all so need space for these 33 sets)
The box is now a 12 packer 12 cards per pack with an SRP of over 12$ per pack with guaranteed 3 inserts per.
Are you now done or just keep picking up the base sets for next to free?
Wonder if this year at Tim Horton's you'll get a free coffee with the purchase of a pack of $5.99 cards.

Wow. That's cutting the pack count in half, and trying to entice us with more inserts. That cost per pack made me throw up in my mouth a little. Which also made me realize how much I'd been paying per pack before, when if I'd seen $5 tags I would have ran off a long time ago.

I'll still collect it, Upper Deck flagship is the only real product I actively collect and have done so since 1990-91, can't stop now!
Will be interesting to see if the dirt cheap base sets change their price because, if you do the math, you're getting less base cards per box/pack now.
Honestly, not a huge fan of all of the Upper Deck inserts other than chasing Young Guns so I could care less about getting more inserts per pack.
Do keep in mind the Bedard hype that is hitting the hockey collector realm. Looks Upper Deck will be cashing on on that. I don't believe he will be in Series 1 though, probably Series 2?

Yes likely series 2 as you say, I believe in hockey it has to do with them actually playing in the jersey before an RC can be made, but i'm not the gospel on that.
Is Bedard going to be another McJesus?
The trend is moving that way as if the companies want you to value the base cards more by making less of them and more inserts(previously known as subsets lol)

Can't say it is a surprise given the pricing on stuff like CHL and Team Canada Juniors this past year.
Welcome to the Bedard chase. Flippers of the world unite.

And if that McDavid UD portraits mockup is legit, it is one of the tackiest cards ever produced.

This is what was expected from them. My LCS has called it since at least a year. IHMO, UD quality and design in the last decade are not too good (except for some very recent changes), I won't miss them at all.

Is it the case they have to appear in a game ?
For instance Matthew Knies is in 2023 MVP. Now he did debut in the playoffs (cant recall if he got into regular season game at the very end of the season).
But those cards were clearly printed in very early 2023 or even 2022. Players traded at the deadline such as O'Reilly, Puljujarvi etc are still shown on their old teams. So the cards were produced well before his Nhl debut.
Did UD just take a gamble he would debut?

Also, cross your fingers with Bedard. Let's hope that he will more of a Sidney Crosby rather than an Alexis Lafreniere.

Playoffs count, as long as they don the jersey pretty certain from that point on its printing bombs away.
CHL type stuff differs and never gets RC recognition.
It seems that there are too many breakers and customers for the breakers so sky and no limit, the greed is rampant.
