I purchased a large lot a couple of weeks ago and decided to create a thread to follow the sorting and entering the purchase here. This is a large lot of mostly commons of all sports ranging from a few late 70's cards to current. This collection is pretty big and very disorganized so I expect it will take me the entire summer (or more) to work through it. I will make periodic updates in this thread but you can also follow my cataloging of everything here;
https://www.tcdb.com/Collections.cfm/BSwagger
I realize many aren't interested in a lot of inexpensive bulk but sorting and cataloging this sort of stuff is my decompressing activity. It will be fun to see exactly how many cards I got for $100. It will also be interesting to see what kind of tcdb value the collection has. I hope I can find a few members who also enjoy this sort of thing and will be interested in following along. At some point I will be willing to sell or trade a portion of this purchase but moving any of the cards really isn't important to me. With my work schedule it is going to take a lot of focus just to sort and enter everything.
Two weeks in and I have worked through 3206 cards and it is showing a tcdb value of $739.17. There are thousands of cards left and even about 10 albums I haven't even looked at. I'm working through a box of loose 1986 Donruss baseball this evening. It also has the puzzle pieces so lets see how close I come to a complete puzzle. Speaking of puzzle pieces, there are a lot in here so I might be trying to complete several puzzles.
Let me know if this sort of thread interests you and let me know what sort of information you like to hear on the periodic updates. Feel free to offer any comments on anything as you see the collection grow.

Consider me a fellow sorting nerd that will be interested in this thread. I’m the same way. Giving me a box of unsorted cards is better therapy than anything else I have found yet!

I'll be reading along. I'll also be interested in helping each other out when the time comes and you want to start trading stuff away and to complete sets. A lot of what you have here is probably right in my wheelhouse.

Also a sorting nerd here. The collection I have on this site pretty much consists of what you are doing with this project. I have periodically come across bulk (junk) cards over the decades and love going through them and cataloging what I find. Mostly baseball from the junk wax era and later, but there have been outliers in sport and era. I sell what I can, keep what I want and chuck the rest. I have been documenting the cards I destroy on this site since about 2016. I'll follow along to see what you find.

Thanks for the comments. omadison27 I find it interesting to hear you destroy what you don't want. I get it. I have hundreds of thousands of cards. I have a hard time destroying any cards.
I live on the MN/WI border and see a whole bunch of Twins team sets in team bags. I think I'm going to have a lot of Twins cards.

That sounds like such a fun find and project. Afterward, I'd be wondering what to do with all the cards, but the sheet fun of going through and sorting it all would be worth the cost of admission to me.

There are some pretty notable Twins collectors on this site, so that might help you. :)

Sorting is where it's at! I'll be following along as well. Hope you find some treasures tucked away in there. Happy sorting!
