Definitely overrated.

It is funny that pretty much all stories written by non-collectors will mention the T-206 Wagner or 1952 Mantle somewhere while one's likely to get 1990 Donruss and 1991 Score commons in the real life. It is like going to a basalt rock quarry and talking about diamonds. They're both minerals, but not in the same ballpark range (no pun intended).

Hard to tell because the reporter didn't really have a clue it seemed. Well, enough of a clue to be dangerous.

The part that confuses me is how the one place that the daughter tried to sell to had no interest in paying $500 for the collection. But then the people who are going to auction it for charity supposedly refused a few five-figure offers for the collection.

I'd offer $5 for it.

Since it's for charity, I'm sure they'll get decent money for it.  Well more than it would actually be worth.  I've been to a few charity auctions where they say the item is worth $500 and people will start the bids at $600.
