A great plunge, class player in my mind got to watch him in the old HHH in Minny. Always gave it everything, loved watching him even though I was there to cheer on the Tigers.

Congrats!
I don't know if I have a holy grail of a card. I do know I have several pricy cards that I need to complete some set headlined by the Ryan and Seaver RCs and that's just the BB side. But to me, those are to finish a set, not a highly desirable (well, they are, but not "coveted") get and considering current market conditions I may never see them. In a previous collecting life (aka, my first collection) I did covet the 83T Boggs. When I was a young teen (early-90s) I actually pulled one from a pack. Was so excited I nearly destroyed in straightaway.

As a kid growing up in Georgia in the 1980’s, it was all Dale Murphy for me. When the 1989 Upper Deck error came out, I wanted that card so bad. It jumped to 100.00 almost instantly around middle Georgia and that seemed, to a 9 year old kid, like an unimaginable amount of money. That year for Christmas under the tree that morning was none other than the 89 Reverse Negative. Still one of the best presents ever

Congratulations on the pick up - never feel bad to brag about a grail acquisition.
I guess the first grail card I acquired as the Olajuwon 1986-87 Fleer RC which was a birthday present from my now ex-wife.

Though I have many great cards I could list as "Holy Grails", the one I will look at as #1 is the 1968 OPC Ryan RC I got as a retirement gift when I left the military (I chose it myself). #2 (and more valuable in $$) would be the 1948 Bowman Musial RC.

Probably sounds silly as it is such a cheap card but growing up I always wanted a Howie Long RC card. I finally have a few. I have raiders cards that are worth for more than that Howie rookie but its one that will never leave my collection. Now I am going after autograph cards of every Raiders HOF'er.

Goodness, I have had several "grail" gets over the years. Just recently I bought two of them at once at a card show -- a '68 Topps Jerry Koosman rookie card (jk its a Nolan Ryan rookie), and the big one: a 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax rookie (spent 2.5k on that one -- far and away the most I've ever spent on a card). There are many big grail rookies to go... I have a goal of somewhat collecting all the best Topps rookies from every year. It will likely never happen, but it's something to chase.
As a kid, my dad bought me a 1965 Topps PSA 8 Steve Carlton rookie card and a 1973 Topps PSA 7 Mike Schmidt rookie card for Christmas one year (He was able to buy both for under $300. Oh how times have changed.) These cards were completely unobtainable for me then, though I did really want them as a Phillie fan.
As a set collector, my "grail" for awhile was a 2011 SP Authentic Ken Griffey Jr card /495. I needed that card to finish that set for literally 7 years and couldn't find it anywhere. I finally was able to acquire it in 2021 (in a lot of 11 for $10 no less).
