Kirby Puckett always seemed like such a likeable guy, and he sure was fun to watch play. Glad you got a card of his that you really wanted. I enjoy reading stories on the forums about happy collectors.
You asked for "grail cards," and I guess mine was a 1963 Mickey Mantle card that I really wanted. I got it when I was in high school by saving up for a while. Some time later, a friend of my dad's was going to host Mantle for some business appearance and offered to get him to sign my card for me. I was so worried about the card getting damaged that I turned down the offer, if you can believe it.
Instead, I went to my local card shop where they had some old programs that weren't going to cost much. I gathered what little savings I had and spent it on an beat-up 1966 Yankees program with Mantle on the cover. My dad's friend got him to sign that for me. I still treasure that 1963 card -- and the program!
Love the threat, and thank you for starting it with your Puckett card.
