Good afternoon TCDb folks. I have an obscure question (probably for wrestling fans). What is the deal with recent rookie cards from this year in particular. For example it lists him with only 3 rookie cards but a base card Prizm Bron Breakker from this year and the RC logo is not considered a rookie card to TCDb? What about a base Revolution or a base Select? His Ringside Select is considered a Rookie but no others. This is very strange to me. Any explanations? Thanks!

Looking at the Prism cards specifically, could be that the checklist uploader didn't apply the proper notes to all the cards. Could be the same for the others as well
As a side note, as with any sport, just because a RC logo is on the card, it doesn't necessarily make it a RC. Topps and Panini both love to through the RC onto inserts and parallels as well, but those are not RC's.
Edit: I updated all 2 sets. Should be noted that for Select there are 4 cards listed in the base set. Only the first card not part of any subset is the RC so that set was updated accordingly.

His RCs are from 2022. Anything from 2023, would not be considered a RC, regardless of the logo.

Thank you for the update. However I am super confused now then. In Football in particular according to TCDb Zach Wilson and really every football player to be honest has 4 base rookies in Select 2021 because they include every level, so why not the WWE Select product? Additionally What about WWE Chronicles 2022? Are there no rookies? I understand about the RC logo trust me but that's why I am only talking specifically about base cards in the base set. Thank you.

For chronicles all the base cards all the way through the set are RC, just not the inserts and the parallels also don’t get labeled RC. Any that are missing the RC are just because the original creator of the checklist didn’t add all of them.

And on the flip side of what Haok just said, just because a card has the RC logo doesnt mean it should be there. Many times the checklist uploader will ignore the standing rules when it comes to labeling a card. Just because it's there doesn't mean it should be. I'll look at some of those when I get home.
If you look through the FAQ about RC labels you'll also find that your answers are there too.

So it seems most lists that are “incorrect” are an uploaded issue on whoever does the upload? If they are ignoring rules then why are they uploading and making the decision. How are we ever to know what a true rookie is? Again I know the difference between base and insert. But many are labeled wrong in various sports here. Just trying to clarify. Also is this something you can volunteer for to label this stuff correctly? Thanks.

From the FAQ
Rule VII: The Note “RC” should be used only for a card meeting that sport's definition of a Rookie Card. If that card is part of a subset, the proper subset notation should also be used. Please note that all cards in "Rookies" subsets might not meet the requirements of the Rookie Card designation for that particular sport. Generally, inserts and parallels are not RCs and reprints, stamped buybacks, and printing plates are never RCs. Although some sites use RY or “Rookie Year” to identify a first-year player’s cards that do not qualify as RCs, the TCDB does not follow that practice, though FY may be used when a “First Year” banner is printed on the card.
With companies throwing the RC label around candy many people will claim that every single cared with the RC logo is a RC. In the past, when there wasn't so many companies producing cards and so may releases it was easy to say that the first card of a player released in a Major Release was the RC. Nowadays it's muddied and that is why some uploaders just slap RC on everything. Some know and don't care, many do not know the difference. As a crowd sourced site anyone can contribute so this stuff happens. Usually for the main four sports there's enough eyes on the cards to keep it in line, but for lesser collected sports it usually takes something like this thread to bring light to things that need to be fixed.
And yes, if you go to here Permissions | Trading Card Database (tcdb.com) you can obtain the permissions necessary to make edits to the site yourself.
