For many years the vast majority of collectors in this hobby are addicted to "fair trade," with the definition of "fair trade" being BV for BV ["BV" is Beckett Value.] or it's fair, so long as it's in their favor. In recent years, that has changed to E-bay comp for e-bay comp. I have encountered that on this site, and several other trading sites. Particularly with younger collectors, go to a show and follow the "flippers" around. This hobby is also prone to "sharks" and "OCD hoarders." We each come to terms with our fellow collectors, or not.
Having said that, once you get the bug, it tends to last, regardless of negative experiences.
With regard to those who choose to participate in PIF's, judge not, lest you be judged.
A Philosopher once mused that there are 9 levels of "charity."
The lowest level is giving, and expecting something in return, such as giving directly from one to another, and expecting thanks.
there are multiple levels 2-8
The highest level is giving anonymously, you give to a 3rd party middle man, who distributes, and you don't know who they [you] are giving to, and also the recipient is anonymous, they don't know where it came from. This is pure charity.
Amongst the general population, only about 60% of households are charitable in any way.
Like several other mentions on this thread, I personally, avoid posting my PIFs on the official PIF thread.
