Does everyone agree that Old Timey Baseball is the funniest thing Conan O'Brien has ever done? It struck me that perhaps someone on this site may have actually been in this segment. Anybody have any info on this? Personal favorite parts? Mine has always been "What is that demonry!?!" It gets me every time.

Classic. I always liked the woman who is so into her part's sad history that it throws Conan off.

Oh man, one of my all-time favorites! "And you, what does your father do? He's passed on."

That was pretty good. Very silly. Him telling that poor lady about all the awful things her husband was doing down in the Civil War ("He got blowed up!). Thanks for sharing that and I think I might have even learned some new baseball stuff, but maybe not.

I know -- they did such a good job of making him look exactly like a person I believe I have seen in photos from that time period. I really love that facial hair unique from that period.
Does anyone play old timey baseball? I've seen some leagues in the Bay Area (California). It looks like it would be a fun game to play.
To the person who thought it was stupid -- perhaps, its hard to exactly explain why its funny. Conan's schtick is him acting like a buffoon, but I think its a fun way to look at history and compare it to the present day -- put them together to highlight how ridiculous each side would see the other, and historical re-enactors are perfect to do this. I think its basically a live action version of the Simpsons, and I think everybody loves the Simpsons seasons 1-8. Conan also did a baseball outing with Billy Crystal at Yankees stadium with some of the players. I'd be interested to see if you thought that was humorous.
I know Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is probably the most popular of the things Conan has done -- it has some great moments, but its never been my cup of tea.

Positively one of the funniest Conan videos AND funniest baseball videos ever. Love it.
A friend of mine is involved with the old timey baseball league from this video -- he says it's a great time.

Comedy is different to everyone, and I didn't really care for this when I first saw it. I think it went a bit too long, like a stretched out SNL bit. That said I understand why people like it and him. I always thought Conan's best stuff was when he was the setup man or straight man for his guests. I'll never not laugh at Paul Rudd having a clip of Mac and Me ready to play, even when it was obvious what the setup was. Norm MacDonald has me rolling, especially when he just pulls out jokes from the 1930s. "My wife, she's a battle ax". My favorite clip from Conan was when Norm and Courtney Thorne Smith was on and she was promoting Chairman of the Board with Carrot Top. Norm went in hard on that and by the end Smith just had to let him steal her segment. Triumph The Insult Comic Dog was funny for a while, then it just got played out. I like Robert Smigel and glad he brings Triumph back on occasion but like The Simpsons, the run should have ended long ago (though I believe they peaked at season 11, not 8).

The sketch gets good when Conan basically starts making fun of himself when he dresses up as the baseball player and then the other . I think what I also like is that he obviously was forced to read a lot classic stuff it appears he didn't enjoy that much, and he fought back by making fun of it -- I figure that is where he gets the trash talk about the diffing the trench to Hades. But I totally agree he is at his best and the funniest people are those that can get other people to participate and be funny themselves.
Here is another classic involving sports you may remember -- Bill Murray doing the NBA commercials:
