Which cards from this set would you suggest buying, beyond the Hall of famers. I have bought all the hall of famers, but are there other players in this set that you feel will be hall of famers?
Possible Hall of famers in this set that I can recognize are Max Scherzer, Miguel Cabrera, Albert Pujols, Bryce Harper, Justin Verlander, Mike Trout.
Also, what do you think of this set. I enjoy the Topps living set along with the Topps Game within the game.

I like them, but I think they're too expensive. I say buy the guys you like. If they don't end up in the HOF, so be it. You still have a nice card of a player you like.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I second that. Get the ones that make you happy, because your collection should be a reflection of you and what you like.

Agree completely.
That said, I buy the Royals players off eBay. If I pay attention and catch them during the week Topps is still offering them I can get one for $5. There are some nice cards. I wasn't impressed with the one of George Brett, but some cards are really nice.

It is my favorite set. I have collected all of them from the start. I would like to see more HOFers and retired non-HOFers. Active players make up 84% (30% Rookies) and Retired players make up 16% (11% HOFers) based on when card was released.

I only snag the players I want and always seem to find better deals on eBay. My theory is that they guys that are selling multiples on eBay bought them in bulk from Topps and then evaluate them to see if they are candidates for grading at a 10. Those that are not good candidates get sold on sold on eBay.

I agree, the cards are probably inspected and the possible 10's are kept and others sold. For me, I cannot tell a 9 from a 10 and according to the YouTube Video's I watch, many are in the same boat. The Topps living set and Topps game within the game set are cards I chase. I focus on the HOF and the high potential HOF, from these sets. This focus, keeps the cost down for me. I like that the cards are artistic images, with the Topps label and of course the 1953 Topps background for the living set. Most of the cards I chase from these sets. I can find on e-bay for between 5-10 dollars per card. If you buy them when they first release, you can generally get them for as low as $4.50-$6 a card.
Scrubeenie, I dont understand why they don't have the artist paint more HOF images for the cards. So, I check Topps website weekly to see what 3 cards will be releasing for the Topps living set and monthly for the card that is releasing for the Topps game within the game set.

I think I read once that the quantity of cards created is based on the number of cards ordered. If that is true, then I find it interesting that the least popular players actually end up having a significantly smaller print run. So anyone trying to collect all of them will probably have an easier time finding the superstars than the lesser known players. Also, I think Pat Neshek ordered a bunch of his own cards as well.

Of the website exclusives, I think I actually like Throwback Thursday most, due to the wide variety of old designs they use, particularly when they use an old non-sport design I had forgotten about.
