Earlier today I was in town for a few things to do and I saw this new "card shop" while I was passing on the street near a department store parking lot in a mostly residential area. I expected that it would be a waste of gas to stop, have a look and restart my ride, but I gotta have a look as one never knows. That card shop was creating in what looks a former living room in a bungalow where they added a second front door. The neon sign said "hockey card (*no plural*) / open" and no business name to be seen. When I entered, it smelled very bad and a stupid small dog was jumping and barking all over the place for two or three minutes, the time that the toothless owner wearing stained clothes arrives in the room. The room was mostly empty of cards. About a dozen boxes of older packs on the back wall and two small glass counters to split the room in two areas. Absolutely nothing recent in those counters, no vintage neither, just pure overproduced junk wax and he was thinking that it was hot stuff. He was very proud of the 1990-91 Score Gretzky Award in a toploader (if you don't know the actual value, the toploader value is about the same as the card itself) he had. While I try to ask what he had in stock and/or for sale, he tried to push me his prize possession, a complete seriously light washed 1990-91 Score Hockey Factory boxed set for $50. It is twice the book value and it can probably found for $5 or $10 in that damaged condition on Marketplace. I then tried to ask a few very basic questions on cards and he had just not a clue what he was talking about. Not sure if he would knew if one asks him if the sky was blue or red. I go for another shot and ask him for singles. Sure, he mentions to have tons of them, but I was feeling too lazy to get that box stored in another room. In that case, do you have another set singles? Same story. I guess this is time to walk out of there and run away for good. He beats my record for the worst card dealer I ever meet (previous record holder was another clueless dude in a flea market) What's the very worst card shop you ever saw?
