I went to a Padres game at Petco Park, and I took a couple of my cards in hopes to get them signed. I ended up getting autographs from Mark Grant and Carlos Hernandez, both now broadcasters for the Padres.
These are on my personal collection and I don't plan on getting rid of them, but this made me wonder if any of you guys also like getting autographs on your cards, or if you'd prefer to keep your cards as untouched as possible.

When I was much younger, I use to mail cards to players care of the team with a self addressed / stamped envelope for autographs. I'm not sure what my success rate was, but i got quite a few back. Some bigger names have their own autographed cards they'll send back to you. Just no telling if they're authentic or not but its something and I'm not one to wait around for an autograph or pay for one. I wonder if mailing cards still works or if they just get too much these days.

I have a cousin that does this only instead of cards he'll make up a picture of the player or celebrity with information about them and print off two copies, one for them to sign and one for them to keep for themselves if they want it. He'll look to target unusual autographs as well. I forgot what group is was but I think it was actors from an obscure movie. He tried to get the entire cast. There were several he had trouble tracing down so he asked others he mailed asking for the autographs if they could assist in finding the others he was missing. He said he had one contact him asking if he could send them the list of addresses as there were several people they too would like to reach back out with.
He's not sure if the autographs he's gotten are real or signed by a staff but in the case of the lesser known celebs he's chased down, he's fairly sure they are authentic.
As for me, when I was a kid I used to get autographs at minor league ball games which I still have on cards. As I got older I moved on to baseballs. My dad would take me to shows and to cooperstown for the induction and we'd always get 1 or 2 balls signed. Now I go every year with my son and get a few balls signed. I have a wall of autographed balls in order of induction dates going back to Joe Dimagio. Keep telling my son, who's in film school, that when he starts making Speilberg money he can start picking up the balls for the players we don't have like Ruth or Cobb.

I only get autographs in person (other than some I acquired when buying large lots of cards). The only card I ever got autographed was a Gregg Zaun 1991 Classic Best card when he was a talking piece for the Blue Jays. I got it at one of the home games of the Blue Jays. I do have a baby's ball cap signed by a few Blue Jays from the 1992 Grape Fruit league season.

That's awesome!! I think I'll make my own list, I don't have that many yet, but it'll be nice to see it grow.
I have other autographed items, like baseballs and posters, but I think I'll start focusing more on the cards.
