This may seem like a silly question but I never see comic trading cards out in the wild any more. When I was younger, you could purchase packs and even factory sealed boxes for regular prices. I haven't actively collected cards for a long time now so I may just be out of the loop. I found some 2020-2021 factory sealed cards for over $200 on a website the other day. Is this normal for such a new set of cards? Or have prices just increased that much since my childhood?

It would depend on the size of the box and what specific cards you are talking about. I see some boxes go for $200+ at card shows but they are usually the larger boxes so you are getting a ton of cards. And modern cards are jumping ten fold year over year for unopened boxes. Its crazy how much they are increasing. Go back 10 to 15 years and the prices start to drop again.

They have increased alot although the quality is better, well at least with baseball and hockey. I remember paying 10 cents a pack. Was looking at a 2022 Topps Chrome jumbo box today and its over $700 for the box. Quality is like night an day and they didn't include autographed or special cards 40-50 years ago but still outrageous prices today and I'm certain that's all sports and nonsports.

Demands of consumers (inserts, parallels, autos) require a larger unit to use as primary way to purchase as a box instead of a pack; plus eliminating smaller purchases and directing consumers to larger purchases. Looking back in to early 90s and accounting for inflation, a box price of $200 is not much more than $3-4 packs that were normal back then.

Don't post much. Lurk and learn, enter cards mostly. BUT, really no need for political-type BS responses on these forums, joke or not. Go to "General" or something - plenty of forums for that jazz elsewhere.
Thanks.
