I understand how markets work. My comment was aimed at poeple that attempt to manipulate the market through nefarious means. In the crypto world it is common and sometimes worn as a badge of honor. Pump and Dumpers
Recently, in the sports card world I have seen some of these same types try to manipulate the sports card world as well. For example, entering an obvious fake price from a completed eBay auction to make the price of a card with a "value" of a few bucks seem like it is rising, or more "valueable".
I obviously have thoughts on this entire discussion, but honestly it pains me to have it. This is not the hobby that I want.
Collecting has served me well the last 40 years. I buy things i like and I trade (or give) away cards that I don't. Prices go up and prices go down. I am not investing (financial term) in anything. I am enjoying my hobby. I get just as much enjoyment sitting in my card room, listening to some death metal and sorting 1990 Upper Deck baseball that I get from finding a blaster of Topps Chrome at Walmart and busting it open in the car on the way home.
I also like to find some silly smart chain token I can buy for $5 and watch the roller coaster. My goal in this endeavor is to make money, my goal in collecting sports cards is to collect sports cards.
I appreciate your passion and make no judgements on what it is you are looking for from our hobby.
BTW - I have some 1990 Upper Deck Baseball for trade if anyone is looking to complete that set. I like Astros.
I post videos on YouTube of my trades and my collection, busting packs, etc. Take a look and leave some feedback!
