I really like COMC, but there is one aspect that I wish had better functionality. Making offers. I get that sellers don't want to be inundated with ridiculously low offers on the stuff they have listed, but the auto minimum is not done well by most sellers there. It's often way too high and then they don't go look at their settings often. This is a problem because if they have a card that they set a price, allowed offers, and set a minimum for auto-reject, it just stays that way. So if a card that is priced too high for a card that has little to no demand, chances are the seller isn't even going to spend much time on keeping track of it.
I think a helpful seller tool would be a way to set it so that if you have inventory for sale and it doesn't move that the minimum offer automatically gets lower. Put a card up of some moderately hot prospect for $20. Minimum offer $18. But if after 6 months/a year/whatever time frame you like, the minimum goes down by a percentage. I track a lot of cards on COMC and I watch as they sit there at a way too high price for years.
The advantage to eBay is that you can actually include a message to the seller to back-up your offer price as fair. I just talked a guy down from the $40 on a card to $10 because the player isn't even playing anymore and never reached full potential. Meaning: $40 is way too high for a card that has very little interest.
I'd love to be able to have a message option on offers on COMC to try and point out stuff like this to sellers who probably don't know much about some of the cards they sell.

Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.

I understand your sentiment. I was trying to make offers with a seller and googled their COMC ID and found a blog with contact info with the same ID (and it was the same person). I had some great communication with them, and asked about the inconsistencies in their acceptance and rejection of prices. Got some great insight from them, they got to understand my method of offers, and we actually worked out quite a few deals of me buying stuff from him. I would like it quite a bit if there was a method for communicating with the sellers on COMC.

-- Dan -- Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 10/25/2023). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned off (details are in my profile). I have (finally) unearthed my 2 very large boxes of Star Company minor league sets and they are available (email for details).

I have tracked and seen a lot of cards that set for years and never sell. Some priced to high and other just no demand for them. The sellers never allow offers or put them them on sale.
Sellers would get No messages from buyer!!! That was one of the BIG things that Tim told the sellers when he started the site. They did not have to deal with: (all the low ball offers and people complaining and being rude to them like E-Bay) Not saying you would be in these areas. Almost all of the sellers want it that way.
If you find a card that is over priced you can put in a error report on that card. The seller will see it. You can add why, but he can not reply to you. NO back and fore messages. I have done it to one seller (a lot of times) and he changed most of the prices on the cards.
Yes there are a lot of sellers that have way to many cards to keep track of prices on each card. Not counting the cards that are hot today and cold tomorrow hot next week, just cards that have been setting there for years. That is why you see large sellers with a lot of cards priced the same. They use the bulk pricing feature. They have a price ($2.75) then they pick all the cards they think are within that range and set the price for all of them at one time with out doing it on each card and setting a price.
You always can contact COMC but do not be sure surprised to get no reply or a reply stating they will look into it. (then no replies).
Some of the sellers are on other sites and you can message them there. Just hard to find what site they are on. Blowout card forum is one site that I see members ask if anyone knows this or that seller on COMC. Most of them get no replies.

Communication is always a huge key for sure.
Often it isn't necessarily because a seller doesn't know much about their cards it's just depending on the volume of cards they have can you imagine constantly adjusting many for the times when they get hot, cold get sent down. called up or pass away.
I spend and spent too much time looking at the going rates comparing with comc, beckett, sportlots and ebay always trying to offer the best price possible meanwhile in comes another 20 thousand cards and I could spend the time listing them rather than checking 4 places.
Finally I have procrastinated and verified myself silly and am just going to put everything at 1 price, if someone gets something great at a ridiculously low price i'm fine with it and great for the buyer/collector.
It's so much to keep on top of, Stan Lee's card jumped to 50$ish, Justin Bieber with Drake went to 30's not long ago Post Malone..., Kobe's skyrocketed
Early 90's Marvel sets etc...

I've been grumbling to myself about this for years. It would be nice, to be able to negotiate directly with the seller.
Somewhat along the same line. I'd love for ebay to bring back the "Wanted section", where collector's could list items they were looking for. The first time they tried, I'm sure that there were some shenanigans going on, with underhanded sellers trying to skirt the system, to avoid paying fees. Possibly, the reason it was originally shutdown. Maybe it can be done without listing names, or allowing contact between buyer and seller. Just a list of, "here is what people are looking for". Then ebay can send a computer generated message, to the person who posted the "Want Ad", to let them know about the listing. Similar to the automatic offers they send out occasionally, after you looked at an item.

I've been lobbying for years to get a want list feature on COMC.
It would be nice if we could not just 'watch' items, but put them in 'want' status with an actual offer price. Then, if the seller decides to reuce the price to that level, the purchase would execute. That would require that I keep a higher credit balance there, but I would happily do that to get this functionality.

I am "Phillies20" on COMC , with just over 1,100 listings, all baseball. If you see something you want, please contact me here. Please understand it cost .50 just to list a card, so I usually do not go below .55 so I do not lose money selling. I will say I have no minimum offers set, so I do see EVERY offer made.

Years ago I had a long talk with them about adding a want list. (before the watch list happen) Basely I was told NO way as people would put thousands of cards on their want list which they did not have and may never come back to the site. That would take up too much date space needed for other things. It still appears they just do not want to do it.
I'm like you. I have asked for years to have a hide/ignore feature. Example with my cards for Ahman Green Total of 3,332 which I have 1,115 so I need 2,217 cards COMC shows having 1,247 cards. Out of the 2,217 cards I need are in the 1,247 they have? If I could hide all the cards that they have that I have. I would only have to look at a small number of cards instead of going through all 1,247 cards. If you sort by price the prices change and the list is different almost every time you look so you can not skip pages.
Again all these things we would like them to do is base on how they have set up their database just like the database here.
It would be nice if we could at lest sort our watch list in other ways. Then have the watch list showing all the seller's that have that one card ards not just the one card you clicked on. Been asking about that for years also.

Generally, if a card is priced on COMC for less than about $3 and it isn't wildly off other websites, I don't even bother with sending an offer. I just buy it. I figure that $3 for a card that I've been looking for a while is a good deal and even if it was cheaper somewhere else, the price goes up when tax and shipping are factored in. Less than $1? That's an automatic buy for me. I'm not gonna lowball a seller on there for nickels and dimes. But if somebody has a card that's really only worth $5 because of demand and they are asking $25, I want to be able to challenge it.
