$8,000.00 for a 1978 Eddie Murray. I'm kind of a noob, does this really mean that someone paid that much? Some method of money laundering? 

I remeber having one of these in my childhood collection but I couldn't even guess where it and the rest of that collection is now.

No, if you look at the Sold listing Best Offer was accepted.  The actual price paid is not disclosed.

Looking at this more closely, yes someone did bid $8000 on this card. The seller had 8 feedback and the buyer had 7.  The buyer also immediately re-listed the item for $3,000, and that item was ended before the end of the auction and the seller has not sold something since.

Definately something fishy . NO collector is going to pay that much for a card that isn't that rare and that's obeiously creased unless it's something like a 52 Manttle etc .

Yeah they have to hide it better so using a HOF'ers RC makes sense
