I got an EMail from eBay earlier today, announcing their new 31,000 sq. ft. secure storage facility and digital marketplace for trading cards and other collectibles, which will launch in the next quarter, with plans to expand into luxury goods.

For me, being able to look at my cards and collectibles every now and then is very important, but then again, I'm not into collecting high-end, ultra rare/valuable/expensive stuff, so I don't see the need for me to secure my common base sets, but I think it's a good conversation topic.
Thoughts?

Based on previous experience, that will be another try giving mixed results. I didn't heard much good stuff about the sport card envelope and their Global Shipping Program with Pitney-Bowes is simply annoying. One can store his cards or consolidate them for shipping at COMC and Sportlots Box, but would you really trust Ebay for that?

Nope, would rather have in my hand thank you very much. First, if I'm spending that kind of cash then I want to be able to see the item when I want. Second, I can only imagine the liability, insurance and other quandries something like this raises.
Edit: I should note that I don't leave items at COMC or my SportLots box any longer than I really need to. You never know what may happen.

Thanks for the link. As an international buyer I will be keeping an eye on the "vault".
Currently I am using Shipmycards for card storage and shipping back to New Zealand. While they have offered a good service their fees do keep increasing and they have just announced there will now be a charge for them holding cards for more than 180 days.
Given I try and make only one shipment to NZ a year this will sting me again. As many of my purchases are now from eBay if their system has reasonable fees it could be quite beneficial for me.

This is good. I don't want anyone to know about my sudden interest in becoming the most prolific My Little Pony card collector in the nation, so I'll just send my graded My Little Pony cards to the Vault so that my wealth builds in secret. Then, when the moment is right...

Curses! I guess I found out who outbid me on that
"Rare Vintage G1 My Little Pony Greek Baby Firefly Pegasus MLP el greco 1980"
I was strong till it topped $1450! Then I had to let it go! The kids were getting tired of cooking ramen noodles with rain water.

I've been looking for that card for a long time... but now I kick myself, as I just saw it on Sportlots for $0.99. Curses upon curses! ;)

These "vaults" feel like a "low tech NFT"....search for things to buy, bid, buy...then you get...nothing.

I'm a collector and not a flipper, but between their wallet and the vault combined with the biggest market for sports cards bar none.........I think I will use this function to build my PC thru vault flips. I'm cetain I would have sold many cards at good profit if I had an option to buy the front end of a hype train and sell 3 days later with no shipping hassle. . Just my thougths.
