I have a 2008 Topps Sterling Pee Wee Reese 1/1 that for the life of me i cannot get the back photo of the card to upload. The problem I have is the card when scanned in created a white bar beside the card and says file size is 600 kb. However as soon as i crop the card down to the proper size the file size jumps to over 1250 kb, 250 kb over the posting limit. The only way i can then post the card is if I severly crop the photo down thus detracting from the correct sizing on the card. I have tried lowering the scanning resolution to no avail that has only lowered the file size a couple KB. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

May not be a solution, but I encounted similar issues when to scan cards with a blue metallic background, someone suggested adding a sheet of black construction paper (who the heck has construction paper lying around????) but I improvised by adding a dark background (contrast to lid color which is white??) and it scanned "normally"

That sounds very odd. Maybe try switching your photoediting software/program?

You could upload the original scan and then use the built-in cropping tool on the database - I find this works well.

What size and DPI are the scanned images? Images should be around 600x840 or 900x1260, no more than 300 DPI

Is your program saving the cropped pic into a different format,
some take up more space....

Never ran across a "created a white bar beside the card" situation before. Curious as to what scanner software you're using.
In any case, after first properly cropping the card image, resize it (instead of severely cropping the image further) until the image size is below the posting limit. (fwiw, I scan at 600 dpi with no issues but that's just me.) Hope I didn't misunderstand/misread the original post.
