I recently bought a massive card collection and they are currently filling my garage now. I mean FILLING! I'm in the process of moving them into the basement. I bought shelving and a high-powered dehumidfier. I have to figure out how to organize the cards and I'm currently going through all of the Orioles cards. I've cataloged and logged all of the Orioles sets from 1954 up through the 90s. Once I hit the 80s, I started to run into some duplicate cards that were already in my collection. So, I'm literally looking at each card with a magnifying glass and swapping out the duplicates to put the best card in my Orioles collection. Looking for off-centering, dinged corners, chipped edges, out of registration printing, color print density, moire patterns in the printing, spots, etc... finding the best card and swapping it. It's quite an undertaking but it does improve my collection one card at a time. I have a ton of cards to go through. I'm currently in 1991 Topps. The collection I bought fizzles out around 1994. Once Topps is done, I'll go back and do the same for the Donruss, Fleer, and Score cards. After the Orioles cards, I have to go through and see what I else I've got. There's complete sets I have to go through and catalog as well. I'd like to get back to trading sometime soon! I guess in the meantime, this keeps me busy.
Short answer is yes, I'm lookling at my cards. More for organization purposes at the moment, but appreciating them all the same.
HAPPY COLLECTING!!!
