I searched the forums for a bit but came up empty. Maybe my search terms were not hitting the mark.
I'm adding more cards into my collection all the time but as I get them sorted and organized into the 3200 ct boxes, I want to add a label to the outside that I can use to find a particular card after the fact.
Simple inventory-ing dilemna that I thought there must be a solution for in TCDB.
What are you all doing to solve this?
Thanks,
Ryan

I use index cards on my 5000 ct boxes. You also might try post-it notes.

My cards are organized by year so I put the years on the outside of the box in pencil to know what is within the box.

Thanks. Within TCDB is there a way to flag what box / row that particular card is in?

For now, you can make a note in the Comments field of the card. A feature has been proposed, or amybe it will be proposed, to add certain functionality to support this.

You can also create an infinite # of tags in the tag field which is found in the "detail add" screen (between the autographed and comment fields). You could create locations such as box #, row #, binders, cube location, etc. for each of your cards. There is also an enhancement in the works to enable users to apply/edit details on multiple cards at once which would allow bulk assignment of tags.

If the card is already in your TCDB collection, you can select "Edit Details" (or "Detailed add", if you're adding to your TCDB collection for the fist time), and enter a comment.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think those comments are kept visible only to you.

It may be counter intuitive to what you want to do (it is determined solely by how you want your collection, none of us can determine that for you) but you could always put each box as a "collection". We are allowed 100 collections, I believe.
I'm going to be doing something similar to that to track my duplicates. I'm not ready to put them on my tradelist yet but I want to know what I have, so each large box is going to get it's own collection. Eventually, someday, I will determine whether these cards are upgrades to what I have in my collection, and either move them into my collection, move them into my tradelist, or something yet to be determined for the cards where the condition doesn't meet my trading standards.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. To tack on to Billy's post, the number of collections I have number over 200, so the limit is not 100. I'm hoping it doen't max out at 255 (one of the magic database numbers), but I guess we'll soon see, if I get my rear in gear and start cataloging my collection again.

I used to do it Billy's way, too. As long as you don't move cards from box to box, it works great. It really just depends on your sorting methods.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
