I found this to be a great story given the challenging times we're living in. Well done on both ends.

This happened to me once from ebay and once from a trade here. They ebay one was like $2. I messaged them both times just to let them know.
My mailman is cool and just pays it and we get him back when we see him.
When I was testing how heavy I could go without extra postage, I got one back in my own mailbox saying that it was short. I just put additonal postage on it and sent it back out. It is interesting that sometimes it gets sent back asking for more postage and sometimes they send it all the way through and try to collect on the other end.

Just a thought a cheap kitchen scale always tells me the amount of postage required on my corner cutting PWE's.

I never know how much postage to include so I just take the cards to the post office and let them put the stamps or postage on it.
And it doesn't hurt that there are several cute ladies working the front desk at the post office either.

When I started doing trades last spring I had the guy at the post office give me the run down on postage. I have a bunch of Forever and Extra Ounce stamps. If it's rigid/non-machinable it gets one of each. If it weighs over 2 ounces it gets a second Extra Ounce stamp. I have a scale that I toss everything on just to be sure I have enough on it. Also handy for larger trades so I can weigh packages and print labels on PayPal Shipstation.

I really need to invest in a scale. That would save time spent worrying if I included enough postage

I've now had two postage due issues this week. One was just 30 cents and the PO delivered 5 days later than Informed Delivery said. Today I got a flier to come in and pick up an envelope that was sent on 12/23 and pay $3.72 cents. It seems that when there is postage due they just hold on to it for weeks before either delivering it or leaving notice. Thankfully, the PO is close but I'm sure that's not the case for some of us.

I just had 3 today , short .. 3.92 ,3.34 and .70 .. the post master said that the 2 higher ones are charged for 1st class postal rate, which is the same as sending a box.. I dont get it but paid it to get the cards, other option was for them to ship it back..my question is who decides this,,, is it my local post office, or some regional office... If it is my local PO, I'm screwed and every package i get will be surcharged by them..

On two different times my local post office has somehow screwed up my packages and left the recipient with postage due even though I had plenty of postage on them both, and they were both sent via the post office lol.
I'm still not sure exactly what they did but the postage due was waived both times because it was clearly a mistake. On one of them there was $6.50 owed on a PWE I sent with only like 10 cards in it lol. Seems to be happening a lot lately.

not only postage due it's like stuff goes a roundabout way to get to people (example something mailed on Long Island NY getting sent to LA (state not Los Angeles California) before being delivered
