I laughed out loud after reading this.
(Probably doesn't fit into the current Woke environment, but I love it.)
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Bought a binder of O-Pee-Chee hockey at a garage sale around 1990, all 70's and 80's cards, in retrospect they were in terrible condition, but they were mine. I still have them all. From there it was 1990-91 Upper Deck and 1991-92 Pro Set. My first Non-Sport was 1991 Vette Set (love Corvettes, hope to have one one day).

I could probably buy the already complete sets cheaper somewhere else, but I like getting my maildays.

Primarily 1987 Topps baseball. Some of the cards are just iconic to me. The wood-grained borders, the backs, the photography, the relatively easy-to-read stats and text on the backside. It was just classic Topps all the way. I didn't even really buy Donruss or Fleer at the time, maybe they were more expensive or harder to find or get into. But the Topps set remains a classic and one of my all-time favorites.

Cello pack of 1987 Topps at the age of 10, which just blew me away. I was already a sports and stats nut, so I am left only to muse why I didn't get into it at age 6 like our CareBear sticker collecting friend....

I started with 1969 Topps football back in the day, and I'm still trying to complete the set. I was visiting my cousin and he had a few, and that set got me hooked. I didn't start baseball until 1974 (completed that set). It seems like and on-again-off-again obsession, currently it's an on-again time and i discovered the adiction of trading by mail.
