1984 Topps baseball. Two distinct memories from this set. I was 8 when the set came out, but rememeber my mom buying a few odd packs here and there. Bigger one from this set was buying uncut sheets from Child's World (huge toy store in NH before it shut down years ago). Sitting in front of the cabinet TV on the weekend watching my Red Sox on Channel 38 and butchering the cards while cutting up the sheets.

For me, it was 1989 Topps Baseball.
I remember that this was the first set that I collected by hand. I actually completed it about a year ago with the purchase of a random wax pack.

Didn't think I'd get this far from building robots in the garage, but here we are now. Wish I could make a robot that could scan every image of my cards in here...

For me It was an exact card. Got it in a pack 8 years ago, before I was into it, and at first it was like my best Twins card. Now I might say my Kirby Puckett jersey, but I had to start small.

Sounds like good memories. I just had to look through the database to have a look at those cards :)

It must have been very satisfying to complete that set, which no doubt helped to fuel the love of the hobby!

Early 80's Topps seem to have been one of their high points.
