Hello TCDB Members,
I started collecting cards again in October 2021, so you can call me "new" to collecting. I collected and traded cards as a kid in the 70s and 80s, but that was...a while ago. The card bug caught on again as I was going through and organizing the small collection of cards that have been in my closet for close to 30 years. What started as an intention to get rid of them turned into a rekindled interest in collecting.
I've narrowed my collecting scope down to only Baltimore Orioles and Washington Capitals cards. To grow my collection, I've been hitting eBay looking for teams sets that I can get, after the math, for around $0.15-$0.20 a card. I've also been going to the local flea market and building my Orioles sets, card-by-card, there. There's nothing like finding that LAST CARD that I need to complete a set buried in the back of a 5,000-count card box!!! I love the hunt. Having the TCDB on my phone is invaluable when it comes to looking for cards at the flea market stand. I know exactly what I need and avoid purchasing doubles.
I've entered all of my cards into my collection, wantlist, and trade lists. Most of what is on my trade list is from the 80's and 90's, and I know that is considered the "junk wax era", but one man's trash is another's treasure, right? Not sure what the next step is as far as trading. As I said, I'm on the lookout for any Baltimore Orioles and Washington Capitals cards I don't already have. Would love to trade my non-Os/Caps (or Os/Caps dup) cards to someone to help complete their collection.
I'm an artist (my Cal Ripken Jr. avatar is a drawing I did) and a graphic designer by trade so seeing these cards again now with a graphic designer's eye and knowing the printing process involved to produce these cards makes it all that much more interesting.
Thank you to all of the members that make this site possible.
HAPPY TRADING!!!
