I HAVE to agree with you! There are some ridiculously high contracts being offered to players now for there to ever be a lockout or shutdown. $40 Million a year for 3 years for a couple of players is just insane. An ARod-level or Pujols-level 10-year deal, plus another 10 million is just as insane. I think the teams are buying their way into a CBA getting signed. I'd say there is very little chance of a lockout in 2022. Also remember that the players (and teams) lost a lot of money in 2020 when the pandemic screwed up everything.
As far as my personal collecting, Topps getting the exclusive MLB deal ruined it for me anyway. I don't buy MLB cards and haven't since 2010. I'll still trade for the Cardinals cards, but I'm not buying any Topps boxes. That trend will continue without concern for what happens with the 2022 MLB season.
