Most players I PC go back to childhood memories.....
Carl Yastrzemski - the first card I ever got out of a pack when I was a kid.
Eddie Murray - just loved watching him with the Orioles on TV
Brett Favre - Just love the way he plays
Harmon Killebrew - Met him when I was 12. Nice guy and a great sense of humour. I have the 8x11 photo/auto he gave me at the card show where I met him.
Larry Bird - Just loved watching him on TV and in-person when the Celtics played the Jazz here in SLC.

Rays Up!!!
I collect all across NFL, NBA and MLB, but I collect the Rays and Buccaneers on top of that.
Also, thanks to NFL Films, Steve Largent was one of my favorite players as a kid, even though I didn't start watching the NFL closely until around '88 and I grew up in central Fla. I have pretty good stack of his cards.

My biggest player collection would have to be Bryce Love. I went to almost all of his home games at Stanford and it was an experience to watch him play. Sadly he had a bad injury that he could never recover from in Washington. He would have been big in the NFL.

For my PC I have a couple hockey players and one Baseball player I mainly collect. Will probably never get all the cards but it is fun trying.
Hockey: Jason Pominville (found out a distant relative)
Jeff Odgers ( Liked his style of play and a grinder)
Baseball: Fred Lynn (Childhood favorite) Red Sox only
Main other PC
Ultimate Hockey Card Catalog: One card for every hockey set ever made, including cards from multi sport, euro, minor, inserts etc.
-------------------------------
Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

I collect Cal Ripken, Fred Lynn and Baltimore Orioles cards. I collected baseball and football cards as a kid. Then in the early/mid 90s I was collecting Magic the Gathering. I remember on day I was waiting the pick my mom up from work. There was a card store across the street from her job. Something drew me in and I bought a pack of cards. When I opened it I pulled a Cal Ripken insert that was valued at $50-$100. I was hooked. I got away from the hobby in 2000. When I started again last year I decided to also collect Fred Lynn. When I was a kid I had a Fred Lynn edition baseball glove. Since Ripken played for the Orioles and so did Fred Lynn, I decided to also collect Orioles cards.

When I first started collecting, being from Michigan it was Tigers, Lions, and Pistons (Bad Boys era). I also collected Will Clark cards as I appreciated how he played the game. Today I collect primarily Miguel Cabrera and Bo Jackson as primary PC; however, I have now started to pickup 80s cards that were popular aka 'super expensive' when I first started collecting in PSA 9 or higher grade. It is fun to realize these acquisitions in my late 40s and how much I wanted them in my early years, but couldn't afford. Brings a sense of accomplishment in my career and pride for how I've managed to make a living.

Two binder pages - Kenny Lofton. One card for each team (or stint with the Indians) fits perfectly. I like the speed / defense guys.
One page: Joe Rudi. We're both from Modesto.
One page: Mike Schmidt. My favorite baseball player.

I saw the best cards of my generation destroyed by creases, soft cornered hysterical edge wear, dragging themselves through the hobby shops at dawn looking for a top loader...

I'll pick up any player either pre-war or new stuff with their first or last name Hogan. In any sport. Except Hulk Hogan. He's an idiot.

I've been a Bears fan since back in '77 when I was 8 years old, but my PC is John Elway. When I got to middle school/high school, the Broncos always seemed to be playing the late game on NBC (usually called by Dick Enberg or Don Criqui) so I got to watch a lot of their games. There was always something about watching Denver and Elway play in the snow that got me to be a fan. 37 years and about 3,000 Elway cards later, I'm still collecting him.
