For me, there are a few different ones, most of which are NASCAR.
First, my main PC of Matt Kenseth. He was the first driver I ever remember rooting for in the races. That started because my aunt liked him and she told me I should like him also. I later found out how he was so good to most of his fans and enjoyed watching him race. He always stayed out of trouble by being near the middle or back of the field. Then once they got down to about 20 laps to go, he would start charging through the field and get to the front. I cheered for him from 2005 until his full-time departure from racing in 2017. When he came back part-time in 2018, he was once again the driver I cheered for, then again in his one season return last year. I never have met him in person but hope to one day. My aunt has gotten to meet him on a few different occasions and said he is really nice to his fans. I am currently in progress of building a website showcasing my entire Kenseth collection.
Anyway, the rest of my PC's aren't as big as the Kenseth one, but they all have special reasons. I collect Timothy Peters because he shares my last name, Ryan Reed because he is a Type 1 Diabetic like myself, Matt Crafton because he shared a first name with Matt Kenseth and they have similar driving styles, Johnny Sauter because he is from nearby of where Matt Kenseth grew up, Daniel Suarez (I like his determination and is my mom's current favorite) and William Byron because he is only about 2 years older than me, so I feel like I can relate to him.
As far as basketball goes, I collect LeBron James as he won the championship the year I first started watching professional basketball on TV. I liked the way he played in the finals and started cheering for him. I also enjoyed watching the Lakers, and as I started learning more about them, added Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal to my collection list. I also decided to add Michael Jordan since he was the greatest to ever play. I later started expanding to include any basketball cards, but these 4 still stand out above the rest. I am going to start a player collection of Mac McClung once his cards start getting printed this season, as we were teammates in a local Christian athletes basketball program back when we were in 6th grade (although we attended different schools, we were the same age and ended up being teammates that season). I also tend to collect local athletes from the area who made it professionally (Calvin Talford, Keith Jennings, Dell Curry).
I don't really collect anyone in particular in baseball other than cards of Michael Jordan during his baseball years. As for football, I don't have a true collection of anyone in particular, but enjoy cards of Shaquem Griffin (because of his determination to play football despite only having one hand) and cards of Heath Miller (because he went to school with my uncle and is local).
I think this about sums up my PC collections, though Kenseth is the primary one and the others are "side PC's" if you would like to call them that.
Matt Kenseth card collection is nearing 50% with over 2300 different cards. Always looking for the missing remainders to get to 100% completion.
