I placed my first card order today on COMC, purchasing around 35 cards of vintage stuff.
The shipping options included RUSH for ($21) or something that was for around $5 but wouldn't be delivered until January 4.
Could that be correct? January 4th, 2022? That seems crazy.

It is correct, and you'll be lucky to get them by that date. Search on COMC for another much longer thread where folks are sharing their shipping times.

Everything on COMC is listed on Ebay for a higher price with higher shipping. They fulfill those orders before orders placed on comc.com.
I'm ashamed to admit it but I've bought from them on ebay just to avoid their half year shipping delays.

Me too, though most of what I've bought from them on eBay has been close to the price on COMC. Their eBay shipping time is still slower than what most other sellers could get away with, fwiw.

That's right...and that ship date is very approximate...
Here's the status on my last COMC order:
Status
Tracking Not Shipped Yet
Date Requested 6/19/2021
Estimated Ship Date 9/27/2021
Items Ahead of My Order 313,986
They're completely overwhelmed right now, and their shipping times are ridiculous. I wouldn't have placed any order from them, but I had a credit and they had a couple cards I've been trying to get for quite a while (will finish off my 1992 Pro Line Portraits team set including the National Convention and Autographs parallels).

I wish I had posed this question prior to placing an order today for close to $200.
Sigh.
Maybe I'll get the cards before Christmas.

As many times Ive looked at COMC it doesn't make sense to me. Even when you buy from COMC on ebay, you pay for 4 day shipping and they clearly state that it will be at least 2 weeks. Someone I know bought cards and paid highest level of shipping, since Comc states they will package them in 3 days + 2 day transit, a week is "reasonable", even then it took 34 days to get to him. I suppose the slow shipping makes sense to Comc since they end up making more money, Id much rather spend that $ on cards and/or waiting on Comc to get around to shipping them. (Im stuck on the idea, that if im paying more I want them in a timely manner)

This will get better once COVID restrictions start lifting in Washington. With restrictions high they cannot run at full speed. But it is just like PSA and Beckett being backed up and order now taking a year.
