I've always hated them. I don't know why but I hate seeing that stamped on a top loader I receive. And when it is stamped in gold it takes it to next level gaudy. I try to keep them out of my collection if at all possible.

The colored borders are bad too. A lot of those I see are yellowed. Maybe they aren't a thing anymore?

I've never seen them for sale anywhere as new but I got a card once with a team logo on it as well. Like, it looked super official but I'm guessing it wasn't lol. Was better than the rookie card ones but looked older and was really scratched up so I didn't hang on to it. Only one I've ever seen

Glad to hear that I am not the only one.
Also, I went to my LCS last weekend and I saw a card in a toploader (not a slab) with a white Young Guns stamp (instead of the usual Rookie Card stamp).
About the colored borders, I never saw them before the toploader shortage created by the pandemic. My guess was they were mostly used by those who play games such as Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering.

Didn't bother me I just put the card in backwards so I don't see the rookie card decal. And if that is all my shop has at the time when I need top loaders I will get them. They are to protect my cards that's the main focus on my collection

The colored boarders makes sense if you want to organize the cards by the colors meaning certian things.

I've seen them at my LCS...not much a fan and seems a bit overkill when rookie cards are already designated as such. Haven't purchased any and won't unless it's last resort, but even then I'm not sure I would buy them.

I keep all my old vintage (1969 & earlier) in rigid card holders. I try to keep the rookie cards in the "rookie" rigid card holders. It looks nice when you are going through the set. But those boxes do get heavy. lol I have to use the stronger three row shoe boxes. 13 boxes full. Craig
