I already had such a strong distaste for Fanatics boasting a monopoly on sports apparel and now they're attempting to do expand their horizons. If we're not careful, Fanatics will control the entire off-field sports market.

If anything, I would have though they would bring Panini fully into the fold. But this, wow?! Going to be a cluster but at least the bubble should have been long burst

Looks like Fanatics is trying to get exclusive deals with the NFL, NBA , and the respective PAs as well. I think Panini and Topps are going to lawyer up and try to sue on antitrust grounds. Fanatcis having exclusive contracts with the three main leagues could definitly be argued as a monopoly and anti-competitive.

We as collectors could end this within a year of Fanatics issuing cards by simply not buying their product.
Just like we as collectors could stop the craze in investors by simply not partaking in the jacked up prices, box breaks, etc; stop the Grading scam by simply not sending cards to get graded; stop the endless amount of parallels and inserts by not chasing every known VAR.
Who's with me?

Not a baseball guy, but, ouch. Topps is such an iconic name in sports cards in general so to see them potentially down to just football (soccer) cards is strange.
Interesting how this news correlates with the thread earlier showing Kenny Anderson signing Finest basketball cards with a 2023 release date.

Wow!!! What a money grab!! Might as well be MLB out as opposed to 8 Men Out. Man fred! Why?? It would be nice to see the card companies lawyer up on the Anti-trust grounds. Politicians have tried that for decades and haven't gotten anywhere. Maybe the sportscard industry has a chance?

I am with you on this one. I am surprised and will be shocked if enough collectors pay ANY more than they already are to make it operate in the black. What the hell does the Players Ass'n do with that kind of money anyway???
