Is it true Ebay no longer accepts Paypal? I seen an article pop up one time but didn't have time to read it but haven't seen anything since. Was that just clickbait artictle or the real deal?

I htink we can still buy with paypal, but sellers get paid directly from ebay to bank account (instead of to seller paypal account)

No. Buyers can still use PayPal but sellers can not. Sellers now get paid through ebay directly to their bank accounts. Ebay has dropped PayPal as their payment processor and does it themselves.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Don't quote me on this but I believe starting next year(???) buyers will no longer be able to use PayPal. As Mark correctly stated, sellers can no longer be paid through PayPal.

I had to buy a rare part last week. I was able to use Paypal as a buyer, but the payment was sent to Ebay, not straight to the seller.

I guess ebay is running me off too. They are not getting access to my bank account. I never sold on there before but have considered it many times. That's off the table now. If they dump Paypal as a way to pay for goods too, I'm done there. What are they gaining by ditching Paypal? Seems to me that they would lose more money than they would gain by eliminating Paypal as a source of payment.

It is taking effect soon, if not already. Ebay is now going to "handle" payments to Sellers. It shouldn't have much effect on Buyers.
Basically, ebay is now taking their cut first - rather than waiting for the Sellers to pay their monthly invoice of fees. Perhaps some Sellers were delinquent on their monthly invoices & it cost ebay time - time they could be earning interest, or plying the equity of their users' money. A business decision they package as "easier" for all, but the bottom line is, as always, money.

Yes as many have pointed out a seller's payment is now sent to a bank account. What I did is I opened a new bank account at a different bank than the one I normally use and linked the new account with my ebay account. This has seemed to work out just fine as the only business that account has is either getting a payment when something sells or when I pay my monthly invoice to ebay.

I actually HATE the change. I would just let whatever funds from ebay stay in my paypal account and then turn around and use that one cards that I actually wanted. It never saw the bank.
