Most of my collection is in UltraPro Penny Sleeves in boxes. I'm transferring over to UltraPro Platinum 9-slot Binder Pages. I want to keep them in the penny sleeves for added protection and to avoid unsleeving thousands of cards- However, with penny sleeves in the pages, it is not a perfect fit causing the penny sleeve to ripple and bulge around the card. This also prevents the stack of pages from sitting flat on-top of one another. My concern is this will bend the cards overtime.
Does anyone have experience with this dilemma?
Should I be concerned about the improper fit bending the cards?
Are there pages designed to fit cards in penny sleeves that I should use instead?
Is it neccassry to place cards in penny sleeves if they are going into binder pages?
TL;DR Cards with penny sleeves cause a bulge in the 9-slot binder pages; will this bend the cards?

you could trim one edge of the penny sleeve to make it lay flat...since you are keeping them also in pages then there isnt really a reason why to not trim them to fit.... still being protected 2x ways, and no bending concerns

What is your perceived "added protection"? I see no additional protection being provided by a penny sleeve inside a binder page. What happens when the penny sleeve develops an overlapping fold or ridge and compresses into the cards surface?
If you're insistent on doing it, Amazon Basic pages are oversized and will accommodate penny sleeves.

I never knew about Amazon Basic pages. Any opinion on if it is better to have a basic page and a penny sleeve or just a 9 pocket sheet? My only issue over the years has been having cards travel up the 9 pocket sleeve over the years and then the card not being fully in the sleeve.

If stored correctly, the pages should be enough protection. Just gotta watch for any glossy surfaces from 20+ years ago sticking to the plastic.

I have tens of thousands of cards in (Ultra Pro platinum) 9 pocket pages and binders and haven't noticed any problems with the cards riding up or sticking. The only cards I've put in penny sleeves and then in the 9 pocket were a few autographed cards. That isn't consistent, just what I've done sometimes when "filing" them in the notebooks. My son saw me once and logically asked why. I didn't have a good answer.

I use the Amazon Basic pages for the pre-1957 cards that were larger. And also they work well with extra thick cards, certain discs, Topps Bigs from the 1990s, and other oversized items.

I am not sure what is causing the issue. I have used ultra pro penny sleeves in platinum pages before and didn't have this issue. Is it possible that the penny sleeves you are using are the premium penny sleeves?

Or the larger sleeves for thicker and/or pre-1957 cards. They make tight-fit sleeves popluar with gamers; Ultra Pro calls them "Pro-Fit".

Thank you for posting this question. I had been using penny sleeves on my cards in pages and I think I should I stop. They would be better used for the cards I have in boxes, and it is hard to fund for doing both. Thanks!
