Just saw someone weighing packs at target
So the closest target put cards back out and all of the Heritage cards were out of the box, and series 1 was being weighed
im so close to just giving up on collecting all together

That has been happening for years, regretably, along with folks feeling for the "thick" packs. It is the reason that the manufacturers add those thick cardboard blanks and/or the medallion cards with the something metal on them. Best bet is to just not bother with packs unless you can get them from a reputable dealer (definitely not via eBay). Frankly, I only ever buy retail packs if I am looking for bulk cards to build a set.

I have witnessed that before myself. I just embarassed the heck out of the person and they just stopped what they where doing and left the store. Wasn't one of my finer moments but I wish I had been recording. I would have posted it so the world would see that dude turn beet red and leave while, I assume, holding back tears.
The best part is I don't even buy packs. 😁

Shady yes, but let's think on what they may really get. A player-worn "jersey", and manufactured relic or patch, a medallion, anything that is pretty much fake. Yes, there's a chance one of those is autographed, but slim pickings for retail. I just don't see the benefit of this activity, not like an on-card AU is going to weigh that much more. Oh wait, the sticker may add a few hundreths of a gram. The person still need to be escorted out.....

Unfortunately, weighing packs is nothing new. I remember in 1991 going into my local Target and a lady had taken all of the 1991 Leaf packs over to the Brach's candy scale (back when you would bag your own candy and weigh it out), and weighed each pack. Apparently the packs that had one of the Gold Leaf inserts weighed more than a standard pack. As I often say with what is going on in the collecting world today, history is repeating itself.
