If this happened to you, what would you do (and feel the same way)? I generally don't buy or sell, but I received a good offer for a single card from a long time member (10+ years) with no feedback or any detail in his profile. However, I found profile elsewhere on the login name he used here. Too good to be true, okay, but use caution or highball, go ahead? What would you do?

Ask him politely to send/pay first? If you feel at risk, the simple thing to do is put all the risk on the other guy. If he declines, no deal.

I'm a little confused on what you are asking but if you are talking about transacting with a long time member with no feedback compared to your high number of trades with all positive feedback then I don't think there should be a problem with asking to receive your side of the deal first. This is assuming the value is enough that you are concerned.

I've had similar; offers from new members. I always ask them to pay first. With one exception, they all paid the same day and I shipped. The one exception ghosted and was never heard from again.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I have purchased two times. Both times I paid first and expected to pay first. It's what we do on every website as far as I know. If they balk pick a neutral person to use as intermediary...I volunteer.

I'm mostly organizing over adding right now.

I have purchased many times from people and I wouldnt want them to send till I payed. To me it makes sence that you pay before shipping

I think it is pretty standard fare for a buyer to pay before anything is shipped. I always expect it when I sell, and I expect that I will have to send money first when buying. I can't think of any other scenerio where it has gone down any differently.

Regarding purchasing - I always pay before expecting they ship. For trades, I've never asked to receive something first before sending. And I'll be honest - I have over 100 trades under my belt and all positive feedback and I recently had another member trade with me and after a few days of the transaction not being updated on his end I messaged him and asked when he was going to send and he replied 'not till I receive'. Besides the fact that that was not part of the arrangement or discussed prior to accepting, my trade record is significantly better then the other party. I was pretty insulted.

I actually asked someone to send before I paid for the first time ever the other day. I did offer to pay a deposit.
Was on another forum and their very first post was offering me a card worth a few hundred dollars. They obviously have zero feedback and mine is 100% positive. To their credit they did send me extra pics of the card when I asked them for them to confirm it was in their posessionHowever, they did not want to send with only a deposit paid or work through an intermediary on that forum. Said it was "all too much hard work:" Which is all fair enough.
That would be the only scenario I would expect something sent before payment.

Update: The guy accepted to pay first and I received a eTransfer. I sold him the card.
Thanks for all your comments.
