I was only looking at my Cornhuskers football.

Bob Brown  (HOF) 22 cards  12 of them after his playing games

Will Shields  (HOF)  122 cards  30 of them are in 2020 sets

Now Tanner Lee  202 cards  onlly in 2018  as far as I find he never made it.

Just getting to the point that now days a lot of obscure football players are getting a lot of cards BECAUSE of the parallel craze. 

At times I wonder if it is worth it.  5 years ago I told myself when I got to 10,000 diff huskers i would/could quit.   I'm only 123 from that goal.

Throw in most/a lot of these cards are short numbered autos as you mention or ridiculous parallels and I find it a player collector nightmare personally.

I don't have any real interest in many of the modern releases but then my compulsion to buy as many PC Cards as possible kicks in and I still feel I need to acquire them!

There as a time when the player had to earn his way to get a card.   Now I have players that have never played a game in NFL with more cards then some HOFers.  Plus 90% of the cards are Autos.

Budler, would 10,000 Huskers be a possibility if parallels didnt exist?  Would it make your job too easy? Or are there enough without parallels to keep you busy?

I never minded parallels. Yeah collecting all of them or all of certain player is definitely a chore, but some of them look really cool to look at. Some of my favorite cards I own are parallels just because they look nice.

and if you really wanna complain about parallels, you could think at least it's not Topps Tek or High Tek

7 years ago I though 10,000 was out of the question but that was my goal for retiring from card collecting.  Thinking I would never reach it so I did not have to quit collecting.

In the early 90s I had approx. 60% of the Husker cards.  (cards that I know existed at that time)   There was no way I ever though there wouldl be 10,000 Husker cards.

Can I keep busy without the parallels  Yes and No  Still base cards out there that I need but just harder to find and more money, as most site/members are not listing there type of cards or charging an arm and leg.   There have been players it is easier to find parallels then the base card.  Guys like Jordan Westerkamp and Mike McNeill 

I'm one of the few people who loves parallels. The more the better. If they wanted to drop inserts totally to make space for more parallels I'd be all for it. 

Reasonably, I know completing sets of parallels is not feasible. I can't afford that. What I try to do is get at least one example of each parallel. It doesn't really matter who it's of...if I am shopping for single cards, which I hate doing by the way, I usually sort by lowest price first and just buy whatever is cheapest just so the set is represented in my collection. 

I LOVE parallels! I don't know about you guys, but I love collecting all the Panini Prizm parallels most! I'm hoping they keep make tons of new parallels.

Still not as bad as Topps Tek (original or revivial) or Topps Moments & Milestones. I still think a limited number of parallels is good but no where near a dozen.

Holy. Friggin. A. I just looked at Topps Tek 2000. That is the dumbest parallel concept I've ever seen. 

If you think Topps Tek 2000 is bad then check out Topps Tek 1998. Each player has 90 variations and then a Difractor version of each variation. Tek 2000 is a cake walk to collect compared to 1998!
