Just wondering if anyone has tried peeling a Finest card from the 90s? When I was a kid, I used to always make sure to keep the protective film on the cards, but when I got back into collecting as an adult I have acquired some Finest cards that have the film removed. I have to say, the cards look a whole lot better when peeled.
I have a Tim Duncan rookie that has the writing of the film right over his face. It also looks like there is a pattern of air or something underneath. This was a card my brother gave me fresh from a pack last year. I have a feeling though that peeling these cards would most likely end up causing a lot of damage so many years later.

I never have pealed any of mine. I even have a mystery finest that hasn't been pealed. On that note I wouldn'y think pealing them now would hurt the card, I don't peal mine just because the covering protects the card.

I did pick two Topps Mystery Finest from 97 at a show this past weekend, a Piazza and Gwynn. I peeled the black cover off without an issue. They both looked great neing able to see the full card. No issues getting it off and no residue.

Never peeled one before but I have some old worthless cards that i'm willing to experiment on if you're interested,

I always peel them. Never damaged one. Done as recently as this year, and it was 20+ years old. Just go slow and easy, and you should have no problem. There's a beautiful card under that ugly film.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster. |
