A good piece of advice...IGNORE pricing on this site.
-------------------------------
Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Wlecome to the site! Everything on this site is crowd sourced so members are the ones that update all information. With that said, pricing on here tends to be unreliable due to many bad actors. The best sources for pricing information come from the places where sales actually occur like eBay, COMC, SportLots, etc. Efforts have been made to fix the pricing on here, but it's a work in progress.

Very good point C2. For example, I have a 2005/6 Upper Deck rookie Ovechkin and this site shows a price of $175. However, if you go to ebay you will see they are selling for much more than that.....for whatever reason but that's the way it is.

The pricing here now has a tool that requires a higher level member to go through and review prices before they are added. But, there are prices that were already listed before the tool was added and they could have been incorrect. The best thing is to review the prices and only most recent prices are comps.

You can add prices to your own collection if that is important to you.

Yes, completed sales on sales sites are the best source and are the sources we are now required to use.

There's a videogame price guide website, price charting.com, that somehow culls sold listings from eBay, amazon, and transactions on their own website in order to keep their price listings up to date and accurate according to market trends. Is there a way to do that here using some of the major players when it comes to sold listings for sports cards? I personally don't put much stock in what any source says the monetary value of my collection is, simply because something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. However, I feel it would be a great resource in the quest to keep information here as accurate as possible and also lend credibility with insurance companies when it comes to trying to insure ones collection.

A great majority of members on here aren't really concerned about the value of their collections. Heck, look at some of the great forum signatures out there (Chuck....). The issue a lot of traders on here run into is where someone will rely on the prices shown on this site when judging a fair value of the trade. They see a card for $3 so they measure up with that just to find out it can be had for under a $1 shipped on SportLots. Completely wrecks the tarde balances and I've personally had a few trades fall through because someone wanted to trade strictly to what this site has and not reality. Not my loss.
Aggregate tool sounds great, but pretty sure it is way beyond the scope of what this site can handle. The programming alone would take a bit and an additional cost. Heck, in today's day and age even the "most reliable" pricing site (starts with a B) hasn't even implemented something like that.
