I happened to look at my collection and noticed that the Washington football team has been changed from Washington Redskins to just Washington.
Now my question is shouldn't the cards that were made while the team was the Redskins still be labeled as Washington Redskins and the new cards be labeled Washington until they get a new name? Then be labeled with the new name.

Yes, the ones that say Washington Redskins should never change. We differentiate between Washington Bullets/Wizards, Tampa Bay Devil Rays/Rays, etc.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I agree the Washington Redskins is the name that was on the cards so it should remain the same. There should be a new a new team created for whatever the interim name is and then another team created when they pick a new name. Basically whatever the name on the card should exist in the database. I'll let one of the more experienced admins address this.

There's a huge difference between documenting and condoning. Doesn't matter what anybody feels about "Redskins". If they were the Redskins at the time, we should document them as the "Redskins". IMHO

A man has to have goals — for a day, for a lifetime — and that was mine, to have people say, "There goes Ted Williams, the greatest hitter who ever lived."

I think Admin had to be the one to make the change. I'm 90% certain nobody else has that clearance.

I suspect Admin's not a Redskins fan.

Perhaps Admin is Native American or at least pro-Native American. In either case, kudos to Admin!

It still lists them with "Washington Redskins" on the cards I looked at.

While the main level team name has been changed in the database, the names on the cards themselves have NOT changed when they previously said Redskins. Look at any card from 2019, it still says Washington Redskins. But when you click on the name, it takes you to the Washington page.
