I have had trading turned off for a month or so. Last few trades I made, I was encountering a lot of errors in my collection and the cards I had listed for trade. I was planning on trying to figure out where the errors were from at some point, when I got the time.
Then I decided to retire on Aug. 1st. Now, I have plenty of time!
Just deleted my entire collection and my for trade list, wantlist etc. Going to re-enter them and reorganize over the next few weeks.
This will give me a chance to make sure all my cards are listed correctly. More importantly, though, it will give me a chance to actually look at my cards again, pretty much one by one. Isn't that really the reason we collect?
I am looking forward to it......
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer!

I'm on my 4th try of entering my collection. The first delete was because of numerous errors. And I agree, the fun is in actually handling and looking at the cards.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I agree. Sometimes we get so caught up in all the other aspects of collecting that we forget to actually LOOK at our cards, just for the enjoyment of it.

v3 mentioned that he takes all of cards out and looks through them on about a 3 year cycle. And it hit me that *I* was not appreciating what I had, but too focused on what I didn't have and getting it. Thanks to him, I began to focus more on ehat I have and enjoying it. So now, when I do get something new in, I look through the binder where it's going, to appreciate the other parts of the same collection, whether that be player, team, or set. Sadly, some binders see no action, so they haven't been looked through in a while. However, being on this site sure has enabled me to see a lot more of my collection than I would have otherwise. And in going through my collection to log it here, I have had the opportunity to see a lot of the cards I hadn't really looked at in a long, long time. So enjoy your retirement and enjoy getting the chance to look through all of your collection again.

Happy Retirement!
I too deleted my collection at one time. For me I had to delete it so I could come up with a way that better suited me. I have since found that way and am now enjoying going through my cards and entering them.

Welcome to the Retirement Club! Sue and I have been living the Retiree Life for a little over a year and having a blast. Organizing the collection and inventorying all the sports trading cards could be a full time endeavor, but I have the goal of completing over the next five to twelve years. It certainly helps doing it here in this wonderful trading card community of TCDB. Hope You have an enjoyable and blessed transition!! Go NAVY and Beat ARMY . . .
Yours in the Journey - Felix

Congratulation!!! Been retired for several years and spending way to much time here. (per my wife)
Maybe I should Delete all my FS/FT cards. I cleaned it up 3 or 4 months ago find a lot of errors. Here lately I have had to tell a couple of traders "SORRY I do not have that card". My issue is some of the cards I do not believe I ever had but still shows up on my FS/FT list Not sure how must of them got there. Some I know how they got there it was because me and my fat fingers
