So say this goes for 1.5mill like it looks like.
In a case there are 12 boxes of 36 packs of 12 cards and 1 sticker = 5616 cards.
That means you need to return $267 per card on average.
The auction says the case "will yield around 40 Michael Jordan rookies".
Lets say you do get 40. An average graded Jordan rookie seems to be about 5k (obviously very dependant on grade). Because this is a sealed case let us assume the condition is better than average so lets say you are looking at more like a BGS 9.5 ($22.5k average) or BGS 9 (8.5k average) so lets say 16k average sale price.
That makes $640,000 of Jordan rookies leaving $860,000 for the other 5576 cards or $154 per card.
I guess that is achievable especially if grading them.
However, there are obviously grading costs (I guess minimal in the scheme of 1.5mil...) but also what does this do to the market for Jordan (or other player rookies from the series)?
You can't put all 40 jordan rookies on the market at once really as that will deflate their value. Though, I guess it may not be too bad given it is not really a rare card just an insanely popular one...
I assume the lure is to hit a 10 grade? I imagine that is worth mega bucks but a quick google sugest barely in to 6 figures, especially for PSA 10s.
I guess there is value there but it does not seem huge. I am probably just rambling now...
