I like Jo Adell though. For one, he is listed on mlb.com as a player for the Rocket City Trash Pandas. Even though the Angels called him up now. And second, he committed a four-base error yesterday.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Well, at least I'll be able to tell the difference between years. Honestly, the last few years are too similar. I liked it better when there was a clear difference between years based only on the front design. ------------------------------- David Hayden

The 21st and 22nd ranked sets on this site are the 1964 and 1967 Topps sets. The only difference between the front designs on those years is that one put the team name at the top, one at the bottom. Everything else is nearly identical (font, border, etc.)

Really folks, this design is unique from past years. It may have things that not everyone likes, but most everybody is still going to buy it and will learn to appreciate it as time passes. When you've been doing something for 70 years, you are bound to have some similarity to previous years!

Half the people are complaining that the sets look too much alike. Half are complaining that they don't look alike. It can't really be both.

Remember, 1972 looked like nothing else Topps had done, before or since, and it will be the Heritage design next year.

Spot on, Corky! This is what I wrote on a blog discussing the design:

If you cut this card in half vertically, I would be fine if they kept just the right side of it. I like the 70 Topps badge and the subtle honeycomb design. The name and team plate is fine too, despite the slashy-ness (although I agree that Topps should tweak it to make the name more readable.)

It's the left side that's too much. The extra parallelograms, the yard-markers - get rid of that and this card would look so much better!
